Is anyone familiar with what this is a replica of? It's listed as "CVA ARMI SAN MARCO HARTFORD MODEL BLACK POWDER REVOLVER", although the barrel says Navy Arms. Google doesn't bring up much using the listing name (Mostly Hartford Model SAAs), and while I might be missing one of the odd, less famous, or less common revolvers, I don't currently remember any that match up exactly with what I'm looking at. Is it just a fantasy gun, or is this based off of something I'm forgetting, or not familiar with? Thanks!

It's a Leech & Rigdon in the wrong caliber with the wrong grips.

And wrong frame. I think it must have started out as an 1860 Army and someone swapped the barrel on it. You can get round barrels in .44 caliber at VTI in the Pietta 1851 Navy parts list as a "Confederate Navy" barrel.

This seems pretty likely since it does seem to have the C.V.A. marking on the right side of the frame (Not super clear in the picture), but a Navy Arms-marked barrel. I do wonder who the manufacturer was for both parts, and how well they actually fit together. I'll count this as a mystery solved!

I think Hawg has described it but I have never seen an ASM product like it. The "Hartford" is incorrect as it was proprietary to ASM's sold by EMF (although also found on some Palmetto products and of course real Colts.) The "Hartford" would have been where the "Navy Arms..." is. Navy Arms did sell G&G's in .44 and 1860's with plain cylinders so some one could have arranged a marriage between the two. I was also curious about this one. You do not see many stocks with serial numbers.

Idk anything about the gun in question but i do know that 1855 Springfield pistols, with maynard primer tape, could be had with a buttstock. I did a custom stain match on a new hunk of walnut for the stock of one. I even antiqued and finished it to match the pistol itself. Not this one, but its was like this.

That is for sale by Ron Peterson Firearms in ABQ. Call and ask them if you have questions. I've done business with Ron for 40 years. A couple years ago they switched to all online sales, no more storefront.

What that plow handle .44 "L&R" lacks in historical accuracy is more than made up for in good looks. That's a handsome piece. Bet it's a pleasure to shoot. The best looking contra historic trade-off I've ever seen.
