In a friend's stash of gun stuff, I ran across this item. Neither of us know what it is.

It looks a bit like a big version of a 1911 sear, but obviously it isn't. Only markings are what appears to be "ACE" on one side and "3" on the other.

It was amongst reloading equipment, so it may be related to some kind of reloading tool if it is not a firearm or accessory part.

Any ideas?

Exactly!!! A trigger shoe. If you have no need for it I'll take it off your hands, seriously.

Ahhh, makes sense.

Sorry, it isn't mine, else I'd be happy to give it away.

THANKS! Apparently it's an Ace #3 trigger shoe, which fits a 1911.

These were very common in the 50s and 60s. They made the apparent effort of pulling the trigger seem lower, but they could also put some unusual forces on trigger system components. Modern triggers have improved a bunch, and comp guns will often have narrow, squared-off trigger blades for improved control.

This would be right at home on an older target gun.

An "ACE" #3 unlined so ready for stippling, polishing or the application of an adhesive non-slip surface.

1911 and variants. I can't see but it should have side set screws.

It'd be a nice one to polish up, side engrave and re-blue for a bar-b-que gun.

$15-$20... maybe.

Slight hazard there in some guns - revolvers, in particular - in the shoe dragging on the holster and discharging the gun.

(Increases the trigger's width.)

Also, be careful on plastic triggers. I trashed a Kel-Tec (P3AT) trigger with one that they sell.

Regards,

I have one from t-grips.com on a govt model. Works quite well by spreading out the contact area, thereby reducing the perceived pull weight. Love mine.
