Stopped in to the local gun shop, and every Taurus had had an integrated lock somewhere: Little 22s, pocket 380s, revolvers, and even their pseudo 1911s had them. Is everyone migrating to this kind of lock system?

The Taurus revolver lock pre-dates the one used by S&W, and it has a long history of not causing problems. It looks like a screw (which it is) and a drop of Loc-Tite will insure it won't self-lock if that bothers you.

Actually, Taurus was the first to offer a lock, followed by S&W, and now Ruger. Why? It's additional insurance against being sued if someone, especially a child, finds an unsecured handgun and unintentionally shoots themselves or someone else. I know, it's a pain in the ... exterior ... for some, but blame it on the lawyers. :cuss:

When you import a firearm into US. The BATFE grades the pistol on point system The locks are one of the things they look for Small size works against you so companys add locks to get points. Mag safety is another point getter.

I hate that you can't lock it with a round in the chamber.

I do use it from time to time at the in-laws house and when other children are going to be around. I've never had a problem with it.
