What is worse, regrets selling a gun or regrets not buying a gun?

It's got to be selling.
If you sell a gun and regret it, you actually once had the gun in your possession.
If you don't buy a gun and regret, you do not have the same regret of losing the thing you had actually possessed.
There'll always be another gun out there for a good price some day.
Buyer's regret is easier to fix. You just buy the next good deal you come across.
Seller's regret is harder to fix because finding that exact same gun again is unlikely.

In 1975 I sold a Colt National Match in 100% condition for $200. I was young and in college = stupid.
I regret ever selling any gun I've ever owned.
Colt Diamondback .22 with six inch barrel: 100%: $300.
M-29's: bargain basement prices.

I've never sold a gun, so I cannot say this from personal experience; but I think hillbilly is right.

A fews years ago, I was at a gun show and hesitated to buy a LNIB Colt AR15- 10 USGI mags- CMore scope - and battlepack of ammo - for $600. I told him to let me think about it. Another guy walked up and said I'll take it.
I kicked myself for a month.

Good deal on the AR, I'd kick myself too...even if it's not a preban, but not that it matters any longer.
good reasoning hillbilly, but so far if I think of the ones I sold, I can imagine what they're like, and I can usually find a fault in it (you can find fault in any gun). But you always wonder about the one that got a way and you never had a chance to try her out. Hmm, same thing with women.

With one exception I haven't sold a gun I really liked.
But I regret my choices when I had a choice of two and bought one. I don't know if it's just buyers remorse, or the guns get discontinued when I don't buy them.

The angst of non buyers remorse is overwhelming especially when I go back to get the gun of my dreams and it is gone!!

Wish I had bought - Used 1962 M70 Winchester in 375HH in 98% condition for $400!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish I had back - Remington Nylon 66 in Mohawk brown like new condition $35!!!

It would be selling a gun that I have the most regrets doing. I should have not sold my colt dective special even though it went back to the gunsmith twice for timing problems. It was the first decent gun I bought when I was 21 years of age. My actual first gun was a Sterling .22 which I still have. I also regret trading a 94/22 Winchester, the grass always seems greener at the time.
There are some guns that I was happy to unload.
-a Ruger Mini 14.
-a Charter Arms UnderCover, gave it to my dad
-a Charter Arms Bulldog, like the idea of a big caliber in small package but a real pain to shoot
-a Grendel P 10, the worse gun I ever owned by far
Guns that I should have bought.
-a Colt Gold Cup for $500
-a CZ 75 when they were $230
-a boatload of Norinco 1911s when they were available
...hindsight is always 20-20

About a year ago I traded my beautiful pristine S&W 65LS to a collector friend of mine; I regretted that deal. Three days ago I visited my favorite pawn shop and there it was - I grabbed it for just a few bucks more than I originally paid for it. My friend never did fire it, so I got it back just as beautiful as before... it's not going any where!

The biggest gun related regret I have is selling my first major caliber handgun, a S&W Model 28-2. If I concentrate real hard, I can still feel the heft of that blued beauty in my hand...
Ones I didn't buy and kicked myself for later?

I've only sold/traded one gun but I have future plans to replace it anyways when I sold it. It was almost right but not what I wanted exactly, so that was okay.
But I have missed buying a gun and regret it everytime I see the price on the same type again. Missed a Kahr Thompson 1927 semi auto for real cheap, missed a FAL for real cheap, so now, I tend to buy on site... that might be worse though 'cause then I see a slightly better deal the next week! (Though if I didn't buy the first deal, I probably wouldn't have seen the second deal!)

Back in 1962, I had a chance to buy an original Sharp's Carbine, a Spencer carbine, each with a box of original shells for $300 apeice.
It would have taken a chunk out of my summer wages and college tuition, but I can still see them hanging on the wall of that little gun shop..............

I regret those ones that I have sold. Only way to get them back is to pay 2 or 3 times what I sold them for.:banghead:
