After much experimentation I have decided that the best load for my S&W model 19-3, >38 special, 4" barrel is a 158 gr. SJHP, with 5.0 gr. of Unique powder.

My Ruger SP101 is the most accurate with 158 gr and 5.2 Unique powder. This is a >38special round. I am still wotking on the >357 Mag rounds

My 38 Spl. loves 3.3 grs. Red Dot and 158 gr. cast SWC bullets. In my Ruger Blackhawk it is an awesome load. I'm shooting out of a 357.

2.7 Bullseye/148HBWC. My 4" 19-3 puts this load into 1.5" at 25 yards when I do my part.

There's a reason why that load has the reputation it does.

4.0 grains of Promo (same as Red Dot), 125 grain Berry's copper-plated HP. This is not a light load, but it is *very* accurate.

"...2.7 Bullseye/148HBWC..." Absolutely. Loaded in .357 cases(eliminates the lube gunk build up in the cylinders). Work up the load for your revolver though. 2.5 to 2.8 of Bullseye with a 148 grain WC has been the standard .38 target load for eons.

I primarily shoot cast 158 gr SWC bullets. Behind these I load 3.5 grains of Bullseye and a standard primer. This load is a great all around plinking and target load. Out of my 6" barrelled Ruger Security Six I am getting in the high 700 to low 800 FPS velcities.

3.5 grains of Titegroup under a Zero brand 158 JSP is the preferred recipe for my 3" GP100 (chambered in .38 Special). It is soft-shooting and quite accurate.
