What is your favorite .380

Colt Mustang is my favorite.

Ran into a customer at the gun shop yesterday who had one in hand. I offered to buy it from him. He offered one of his children instead. :scrutiny: :D

I gotta ask... that Sphinx AT .380... I've never seen one of those before. How are they in size/weight/capacity comparison to a Kel-Tec P3-AT? My curiosity is getting to me. What sort of price range are they in?

It's a chopped and channeled CZ 75 clone from Switzerland. DA only with a 10 or more capacity in cal 380 only. I have talked to the importer but he is not sure about the US distributor. It has been imported in the past. The New Jersey correctional officers had it listed as an alternate choice weapon for the State COs. The big issue there is that it is a high quality weapon suitable for concealed carry and is totally ambidextrous. It has left and right hand safetys. I have only seen them at the Shot Show.

This one. I posted the photo prior to actually shooting it. Bought it used this month and took it to the range today. Wow, am I glad I bought this Sig. I've shot Bersas, which are a better value, and I've owned a Beretta 86, which was a fine .380. But, this 232 is really accurate; gave me 100% reliability through 100 rounds of Remington FMJ, 20 Extreme Shock Fangs (yeah I've had them for a while...sheesh...), and a box of Gold Dots; feels great in the hand; exhibits very manageable recoil; and best of all, has an awesome trigger. After all, it's a SIG! :D

lobotomy, you crack me up!

I think I'll have to use your quote as a sig line for a while :)

To stay on topic, colt! Guess everyone has a reason for their favorite. I was looking for a centerfire that my wife could shoot (not for SD, just for enjoyment). Colts have less recoil than anything else I tried. that includes CZ83 (was hopin the big mass and wide grip would overcome the blowback snappiness, but nope), a ppk in .32 and a couple of others.

Finally got a colt .380 (they aren't going anywhere but up in price :( ).

It's a soft shooter! Maybe as soft as my p32, but I like the trigger on the colt tons better!

The CZ83 does have some snappiness, but it's not bad at all. The wide grip and weight really does decrease the snap to minimal levels. After the first two or three shots, I hardly notice the snap anymore. It's also easier to stay on target with the CZ83.

Agreed, but the yardstick is my wife/younger son's wrists. So while it's one of the better for the round, it's too much for them. They've yet to shoot the colt, but I notice quite a bit of difference and hope it will be ok for them.

Colt Govt 380. Had mine done by Novaks, outstanding work. Or my Colt 1903 380 (1913), thin as possible, still steel. KT 3PAT, good for pocket.

Have had a Bersa and regretted selling it. Great little gun. Took the money and put some more to it and got a Colt .380 Gov't. In hind sight, I shoulda kept the Bersa and bought the Gov't, and had them both. I have a NAA Guardian as well. Undecided on it. It's nice and small, but heavy. It's a pleasure to shoot though.

I have had two great ones but my favorite is my Browning BDA .380! Some guns are just beautiful!

Don't have one I like...

but I can tell you about the one I hate! AMT Backup 380. Rough machining, terrible ergonomics (almost need two hands for the safety and the slide gives me a nasty blood blister), weak hammer (sounds like it wouldn't set off nitroglycerine), and the most horrible trigger I've ever felt. It's really awful.

Steelharp;
Yes the Swiss pistol is thick, chunky and heavy. It is in no way a pocket pistol.

In getting a 380 for the wife, I would rely on whet feels good to them. I like the CZ 83 but have enough experience to know that gun fit is highly individual
Good Luck

380

astra constable of course. i'd like to try a keltc as i love my .32 version. my bersa was decent.

For all around good reliability and accuracy I like the Bersa.

For all around good reliability, accuracy, light weight and it fits nicely in your pocket, KelTec P-3AT and it's the thinest 380 ever made..

bullboy,

Welcome to THR!

I have the same BDA .380, beautiful guns, feels great in the hand too. I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it but I love the gun. Where did you get yours?

Among those I've shot, I really liked the Bersa Thunder (used to own one in fact)

Accurate, lightweight, good trigger and ergonomics. A little too big for pocket carry though...

I’m surprised we’ve made it to page 4 and no one has mentioned the Beretta ’34. One of the classiest designs ever IMHO.

Marshall -

This is actually my second one (sold the first one to pay the morgage once! - at least I'll never have to do that anymore!) I bought it at a now closed place in Tulsa called Jumbo Sports (maybe '93) got this one two years ago from R&J firearms in Broken Arrow. I really love this gun. I saw Green Country by your name - Tulsa?
