It used to be a 1911 Commander, but I now occasionally carry a Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum with a 4-3/4" barrel.
Usually carried in a "Tanker" shoulder holster, but occasionally OWB in 4 o'clock position. The short barrel makes it just a little bit longer than a 1911. And, of course, it doesn't have the 1911's flat profile.
Under a rain parka, it's concealed. More by accident than design, but it's still concealed...
Hey I'm not the only one!!! 7.5 inch Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag. 300grn H/P if that don't stop (anything) nothing will and if you need more than 6 rounds get to the range fast I also carry P-90 .45 acp. when it gets hot 380 keltec
The largest that I carry is a Stoeger Cougar 8000.
I dont like too large or too small. The smallest I carry is a glock 27.
To me the sweet spot is between the glock 26/27 up to the glock19/23 size. They really need to make more g23 sized guns. The big problem is the length of the grips.
Given the right clothes I can conceal an M9 ... But it better be cold out.
Usually an officer sized 1911 type is my carry, my PT911 is about the same size, so that works well, too, but when I can't wear an overshirt ... I am not concealing a gun ... Simply impossible with my build.
