I bought a gaggle of mystery 7.62x39mm ammo yesterday, and was hoping someone could tell me more about what I bought.

I pretty much only shoot Wolf in my AKs, and will probably sell off all the ammo that's not non-corrosive and comparable to wolf.

I'm mainly trying to find out which ammo is non-corrosive and which isn't (a lot of it is in boxes that say non-corrosive, so that parts easy to figure on those rounds), which ammo has a steel core, and what the value of some of this ammo is.

I'm guessing this stuff is German?

This is German for sure, but I've never seen any AK ammo in packages like that.

This stuff has what looks like brass cases. The dude I bought them from said he thought it was Romanian and was corrosive, but he wasn't sure.

The seller thought this copper washed stuff was Chinese steel core. The headstamp has "351" and "70" on it.

I don't have a clue on this ammo. It weighs almost nothing, and I think the bullet is made out of tin or plastic or something. The head stamp is either "05" and "86", or "50" and "98" (I'm not sure which end is up). There's only about a dozen or so of them, and they're in a box for a different kind of ammo.

The bulk of the ammo is this kind of stuff that looks like Wolf with the green cases. Some of it has "TCW" on the head stamp. Others have a "3" and "94" on them, others have the caliber and some kind of funky Russian writing on them, and some of them have different numbers on them.

Most of the stuff in boxes haven't been opened, but the guy loaded a lot of them on stripper clips too, and I'm not sure if he mixed up some of the ammo in different boxes or anything either.

My main concern is to avoid shooting any corrosive stuff in my guns. I don't mind the extra cleaning that comes with corrosive ammo on old bolt action milsurps (although I reload for every milsurp caliber I own because I was sick of that), but I don't want to worry about a bunch of rust and crap in a semi-auto.

Also, is there any safety/performance issues with any of this ammo? As light as the ugly black round tip rounds are, I can't see those being able to cycle an AK. From some of the headstamps, some of this ammo is from at least the '70s, and I think some is from the mid-60s too possibly.

If any of this is steel core, how much better does that ammo penetrate compared to Wolf FMJ? I know some people are willing to pay more for that ammo than lead core stuff, but I don't know if it's a notoriety thing, like with Black Talon, or if it's actually that much better than regular ammo.
thanks

2, 3 East German .mil surplus.

4. Yugo Surplus. corrisive, lead core. Good ammo.

5. Chinese steel core.

6. Not sure- may be East German.

7. 1990s era Russian commercial ammo. Was sold cheap by the crate then. Nothing special. TCW- tula cartridge works. Same maker as wolf.

Yep, #5 is Chinese steel core and #7 is Tula. #1 is obviously Chinese, probably steel core and probably corrosive. Is #6 a lead bullet?

Send it all to me. I will take care of it for you.

I believe the round nose is East German loaded with a plastic bullet with metal jacket for use in training. they are still lethal but not what you'd want for social work.. You can pull a bullet or just weigh a round compared to a spitzer type round and there will be a big difference (100 grs or so).

The Chinese is marked non-corrosive but don't believe it.
