Well I have been looking at some ammo prices and aparently 7.62x39 and
7.62X54R is DIRTH cheap. So I wanted to know what type of Rifle can I get something CHEAP around $400 or less that will shoot these calibers for mostly PLINKING and that’s got a pretty good accuracy.

and by the way where can i buy 7.62x39 and 7.62X54R for a good price. just want to know where you guys buy your ammo and the price.

Thanks

check out AIMsurplus.com

they have AK's (7,62x39) for under $400, and Mosin Nagants (7,62x54r) for $70

The Mosin Nagant is your best bet for decent accuracy.

I have a Ruger Mini 30 (7.62x39) and a Mosin Nagant (7.62x54). They're super fun to shoot, but tack drivers they're not. Same goes for the SKS I had. It wasn't too bad, but also not a tackdriver.

Don't expect great accuracy from milsurp 7.62x54r, but shoot some wolf gold from a decent Mosin and you will be impressed. There are tricks to lightening and smoothing the trigger that really help.

Saiga. Typically $260 in x39 from what I've read. Also comes in .223.

I have a Mosin. It's alright, but the recoil gets old after a couple boxes.

I also have an SKS. Decent gun but very heavy for the caliber used. I'm kicking myself for getting one of these instead of a Saiga.

My favorite is my CZ carbine in x39 but you're looking at about $500 for one of those.

what to buy

If you want accuracy in the calibre 7.62x54, you won't go wrong getting a Finnish M39. These can be found at Wholesale Guns and Ammo for under $300. Another consistent 7.62x54 shooter is the M91/59 which can be found at AIM and at Allans Armory. Both of these rifles are consistently great shooters. The Russian rifles are a crap shoot. You can find some really good shooters but you can find some real dogs too.
