Just curious what kinda hearing protection you guys are wearing..

I've always just worn the roll up foam ear plugs I get from work..

Thinking about maybe upping the ante..

ANyone?

depends on the gun and the amount of shooting. If im just watching and its only one shooter ill usually just stick my fingers in my ears LOL. If im shooting by myself with a non-braked rifle, then plugs are fine, add a brake and a high intensity chambering or really short barrel and ill add a set of muffs also. If some one on the line has a braked gun then ill add muffs, or if i dont have ill get the hell off the line LOL.

I have been using plugs, but recently decided to upgrade... I got some Howard Leight Impact Sport's the other day off Midway... Should be here Tuesday.

Besides, they get great reviews, and only cost $50. Can't put a price on hearing.

I use muffs. Cheapest ones I could find at the time. I think they were about $15 at either K-Mart or Wal-Mart. They're great. Even with a 300 Win Mag in the next lane.

I use foam plugs for .22, anything over that I use muffs on top of that. Only got about 20% of my hearing left, would like to keep that. Should have started this practice 30 years ago, but the Army only gave me one choice and that was plugs that didn't fit.

Plugs under muffs always. I'd eventually like to get some electronic muffs.

I've found that the cheapo muffs from Wal-Mart work just fine for me. I've never spent more than $20 on a pair. I have heard great things about the electronic ones though and may give them a try eventually.

Pro Ears Gold Predator. Several different electronic muffs I've acquired in the $30-300 price range work well. I like to be able to plug in to the iPod or radio.

I have a pair of Howard Leight Impact also. I probably should wear plugs under them but that do pretty well. It is amazing how well they enhance the sound.

As a kid my uncle would have us stick cigarette filters in our ears. I used just the foam plugs until a couple of years ago. Now, both the plugs and muffs. A good set of electronic muffs are on my wish list.

Non-active muffs when shooting pistols and foam plugs when shooting rifles because muffs get in my way when leaning into a rifle stock.

Howard Leight Sport Impact earmuffs are awesome. I have used the Caldwell muffs they worked but after the shot there was a delay before they returned to where you can near people. Also, the wind is not filtered well so if you are outside on a windy day you may end up just turning them off. The Howard Leights are comfortable, have an automatic shutoff if accidentally leave them on, and the batteries are very easy to change. If you are shooting rifle or large revolvers you may have to use the foam earplugs too because the report may be a little loud depending on how sensitive your hearing is. They are simply great you can put them on at the beginning of your shooting session and never have to take them off. They are comfortable with glasses and work great.

I only wear electronic muffs. I love them. They can be found cheap and expensive. I like both pairs I have.
