Maxpedition Condor here.

4 seasons of California: mudslides, wildfires, earthquakes and riots. Gotta be ready to bug out or bug in.

TexSport dry backpack.

Not high speed multipocketed gusseted grommeted gear, not really that comfortable to carry really but then neither is anything else I have ever packed. These are literal BOBs (bugout bags), never get UNpacked save for checking/repacking, they're for gotta-go-right-now stuff like evacuations due to train derailments etc. Likely to get strapped onto the luggage rack of the station wagon, we have done several thousand miles on the road with their more colorful (bright yellow) equivalent and nary a drop of water inside yet. They are durable and relatively inexpensive, and fit our needs.

Would not call either of them a dedicated "SHTF" pack, but I keep an Eagle AIII around for hiking, school, anything else I need a pack for.

If I need more capacity for some reason I still have an ALICE large with frame that I have updated with Eagle's shoulder straps.

How much weight does everyone see themselves carrying (total, including things not in the pack) and what kind of distance would you have to travel?

25 year old Jaspar frame pack, cheapie, and the wife's BOB is my old duffle bag. NO $ for ALICE packs or fancy stuff, but maybe someday I can afford to get some new BOBs.... :)

A very unpractical, untactical duffle bag with no shoulder strap. :(

To be upgraded to a Lightfighter RAID sometime when I can justify the cost. :D

Here's my SHTF pack:
MVC-001F.JPG

One each OD Lightfighter RAID pack with 2x Tactical Tailor Large Utility, 2x TT Zipper Utility, and 2x TT Multipurpose Pouches.

How does one get a waist strap on a RAID? I saw my buddy's and he said there is an option available but I didn't see it.

Skunk,

There are attachment points on the bottom of the pack for a belt. The belts aren't listed on the Lightfighter website, but I imagine you could order one over the phone.

Skunk, you really, really need to check in to the RAID or the MAP by Patriot Performance Materials. Both are top notch bits of kit and work as EDC bags for work, gym, range, whatever...and for scooting boot across terrain when the zombies come.

Maybe Brad at LF can incorporate some Carbon Fiber into the design for you. Just a thought. ;)

My old ( :uhoh: ) Camelbak Motherlode (which is still waaaaaaay to small for me) that I have in the Yota.

I have an old, tactically deficiant school pack in the house.

I just use a regular Jansport Odyssey 38. Holds 2350 cu inches plus my 100oz. Camelbak reservoir, and it blends in with the crowd, so as to not draw much attention to myself.
