For a heavy duty rugged single stage press I think the best bang for buck it the Lee Classic Cast press (Not the "Breach Lock one). The Classic Cast is supposed to have better (through the ram) spent primer handling than the Breach Lock Classic cast.

I was going to buy one until my boss sold me his extra RockChucker for $50. The RockChucker does a nice job but I don't believe it is as big as the Lee Classic Cast.

I have a dillon 550, and picked up a Lee CC for small runs of rifle loading, and rifle brass prep. It was on sale at Midway, at a very tempting price. I much prefer the 550 for most reloading, but the CC is hard to beat for the odd jobs I use it for. I'm glad i got it when I did.

I'd still like another 550, but it will be a long time before the reloading fund works its way up to that level of funding. Components keep chipping away at it. :)

My RCBS Rockchucker has done everything that I have ask of it and I expect one of my Grandsons will enjoy the same experience with it someday. It does pick up some primer residue around the ram and I occasionally wipe it off and apply a light coat of oil. If I wanted a heavier press I would look at the Redding Ultramag or one of the C-H "O" frame presses. Their largest one is a real Hoss, but expensive. I briefly owned a Redding Boss or Big Boss, nor really sure which one, and didn't see it as any better than my old Rockchucker. The Redding was a nice press, probably the equal of my Rockchucker but I didn't see it as an improvement, just more like an equal.
