what pistol does your wife carry concealed?

A Keltec PF9 most of the time. She also has a Colt Mustang .380 and a Colt PocketLite Mustang .380 that she carries some of the time. She picked them all. Best way to do it. Believe it or not the cuteness factor carries a lot of weight.

a M&P 9c although yesterday we purchased the Bodyguard .380 because she wanted something easier to conceal in the summer. Truthfully I don't see the m&p getting used for ccw much in the future.... the BG is just to easy.

My wife carries the Magnum Research Micro Desert Eagle .380. She is very comfortable and accurate with it. The machining of the stainless frame and slide make it very easy for her to operate. She selected it, she maintains it, and she can shoot it right down the middle all day long. Also, she never leaves home without it.

Step one: hand her the credit card.
Step two: Stand Back from the counter.
Step Three: Shut up.

I have to second this.

My wife carries a Springfeild XD40 and/or a LCP, a "Raspberry" one. Both with lasers, there a "must have accessory".

My wife usually carries a Kel Tec P32. Sometimes she will carry a Sig P239 or G26 if more juice is needed.

PS... don't try to play the hero... let her pick her own gun if you value your money.

Mine carried a Model 10 snubbie as a Deputy, 35 years later she carries a Model 642 every day wherever she goes.

When fashions won't let her carry the 642, she grabs her Seecamp .32. and puts it some durned place. I know better than to ask where.

Well, my wife has shot every hangun I own...up to and including a Glock 10mm. Since I am the *ahem* firearms expert in my family, she values my opinion and experience, and trusts me to make the right choice for her.

I steered her toward the Glock 19. I wanted one that I knew was accurate, reliable, and in a reasonably effective caliber. It is loaded with 15 rounds of Winchester Ranger "T" 127 +P+.

She doesn't CCW, but I insist she take it with her whenever she goes out of town. She likes it fine and shoots it well.

Not an auto but it's what she carries.
I've made any number of guns available to my wife to shoot and try out for fit and feel. The one that she likes best is a 2" S&W 317, it's an ultra light 8 shot .22lr. She loves it, she not only carries it (a first) but actually enjoys shooting it and asks me to go shooting so she can!

My wife has bought her own carry guns - three 9mm compacts and, most recently, a Diamondback .380 that I discovered when I gave her a surprise hug one day.

While decisions about carry guns are personal, that goes double for holsters.

I'd just keep on buying her handguns until you get one she likes. Keep all the rest for yourself. Kidding aside, my wife and daughters love shooting the 1911 in the .45 ACP, but CCW a light weight snubnose or .380.

BEfore I tell ya what ze waif carries I wanna preamble this.

No amount of research on your end, and no amount of other people telling you what their SOs carry will decide what she carries. IF she is going to carry, she will. If she doesn't decide, she won't carry.
She's a big girl, I'm sure and you respect her deeply, otherwise you wouldn't have married her, I imagine. I'm sure she can pick her own gun. 8)

That being said, my wife carries a Beretta Model 70 chambered in .32. On other days it's a Baby Browning.

Mine picked her first two,She against my better judgement wanted a PF9.
Not that theres any thing wrong with the pistol but I figured she would not like the recoil, and I was right, next she wanted a light weight 38 special and she carried and shot it for a year. Then she shot my new Kahr PM9 that was 2 years ago and she even lets me shoot it a couple times a year, she loves it carries it 24/7 and shoots it lights out.

My wife regularly carries a Beretta 21A .22Lr or a Beretta 92fs, depending.

She picked the 92 out herself and the 21a was mine until I let her shoot it.

I'm with the other guys though. Make sure she is there to pick out her own gun.

However, if she is a really new shooter make sure she handles a lot of guns to make sure she knows exactly what options she wants. If yo ucan shoot a wide variety even better. What you are really doing is making sure she finds a gun that is tailor fit to her hand, body type, wardrobe and carry habits. You both need to know how a gun should fit in a hand, how it should point when drawn and how the fingers reach the controls.

Don't worry about caliber or finish.

Oh yeah. Did I say wardrobe? Yes. Yes I did. Womens clothing is tighter fitting and less forgiving than men's clothes when it comes to hiding a holstered gun. Most women will want to dress somewhat fashionable when they go out and if the gun won't fit into her dress code then she will leave it home. Unless she is a T-shirt and jeans kind of gal and likes to dress a bit frumpy then she might be ok.

Don't push her into anything. As a gun store clerk I've had a lot of guys come up the counter and try to buy guns for their wives. I almost always turn them away and tell them to come back with the wife that the gun is for. That way we can tailor the gun to her. I'll also tell the husband to go look at something shiny while the gal picks out a few models and to come back with a credit card when she is done. This keeps him from getting testosterone all over the display pieces.
