What range to practice Bear defense with slugs?

Y gads.... 600gr slugs traveling at 1500fps would come close to changing the rotation of the earth.. I sure wouldn't want to be on either end of that business.

I just read the reviews. One individual used it to get a 355 lb black bear. Another used them on American buffalo.

I expected the recoil to be way worse the first time I fired one. It's really not that bad. I carry them in my 870 when I'm out in the woods in case of angry moose or bear.

600 gr @1500 sounds gnarly until we realize that standard loads get a 1-oz (438 gr) to 1600.

Wouldn't want to shoot those all morning, but, for barr deefince I'd gladly empty a magazine.
