What rifle do you squirrel hunt with?

There are lots and lots of squirrels around here and i don't hunt them much anymore. But when i do, i many times take my Remington LH 541-S,

I like light handy 22's that are accurate, and it is.

Squirrel Hunting

I will be using my Marlin 39A most of the time, my Encore with the 22 LR barrel the rest - both of them will knock a squirrel in the head at 50 yds. no problem if I do my part.

Henry .22LR Carbine
Marlin 795
Marlin 60
Ruger 22/45

....Savage 11 .243 on occasion...

Also pegged one with a G26 once.

BLR 22 or a BAR 22 depends on which one the son is using. I prefer the lever gun, I have killed a train car load of bushy tails with it over the years

I`m like (horsemen61) I use a .410 mostly, but when I do use a rifle it is my Savage Mark I..........

My squirrel rifle is a TVM .36 flint SMR. For years I used a nice .32 Crockett but got tired of having to buy percussion caps. Long ago I used my Remington M514 single shot, Marlin 39A, various pistols and revolvers and Kimber of Oregon M82 Super classic. Now it's muzzleloaders only and I haven't used .22LRs for many years. MLs and prb put the sport and challenge back into my favorite pastime.

Romanian M69 trainer with a wallmart Simmons 4x.

I have the cheapest, ugliest rifle in the woods, and I'm usually one of the firs hunters back to camp cleaning a limit of squirrels.

I absolutely love my cheap ugly rifle. It just perfect for me.

Gamo 880.
but i am not hunting squirrels, 2 pair of nesting hawks in my area have
done that task. my war is against the 3 families of evil furry chip-monks living under
my slate patio and field stone walls. so far, sadly, they are winning by attrition:
i pop one, 20 come to his wake and 10 stay...

A cat would take care of them pretty quickly. Chipmunks don't last long within a 100 yds of my house.

As far as hunting squirrels go, I don't do that much anymore. But I certainly have the rifles to handle it. Probably would be a scoped Remington 541-S. My fav 22 rifle (but not the most accurate).

Welcome aboard sir.
Love the CZ. I know what you mean with the higher powered scope for the .22. I squirrel hunt with a Marlin 60 and for years it had a Nikon 4x32 on it. Then on a whim, I put a cheap 3-9x40 on it that I had laying around the house and love it. I'll eventually put a better scope than the Tasco on it, but it will likely be a 3-9 power.
i use a burris 3x9x40 on mine because i had an extra. id rather have a big scope that i could see through than one of those so called 22 scopes

CZ 452 American

I had a Winchester 52B but it was too nice to drag through the brush. I tried a CZ 452 in 17 Mach II but ammo was pretty pricey, plus the 17 is pretty messy with a bad hit. I sold it and grabbed a 452 in 22LR. Decked out with a 2X7 Nikon it shoots every bit as good as the Winchester did. BTW, the nikon is a shotgun scope with the parallax set for 75 yards. Works swell!

Marlin model 60 2.5x7 scope and cci 40grn lrn standard velocity bullets. Or my 20ga.

Ruger 10/22 with a Weaver 3-9x32 AO rimfire scope.

My CZ is just too pretty for the woods. It hurts me to see yours laying on those rocks.

I laid that rifle down with the greatest of care. I like to keep them as pristine as possible, but that won't keep me from hunting with them. That Weaver RV9 is a great choice in scope.

Remington 41P TargetMaster single shot .22LR.
Manufactured in 1936, purchased by my Dad the same year.
Still the most accurate .22 I have shot.

Well, i have a new one to hunt with this year,

Mel builds AMAZING rifles!!

From the testing i've done so far, it looks like it's going to outshoot my old standby, my Rem. 541-S and that's saying something, cuz it shoots with the best of them!

Great choice in scope. The Nikon EFR is a great piece of glass for the price.
