I'm a cheapo so I go with Nikon prostaffs, and vortex crossfires. for hunting I like 3-9-40 or even a 50mm.
if it was me and I used the 30-30 to deer hunt I would put a 3-9-40-50 on it.
one thing my buddy told me the other day was get the higher powder because when you need it and its not there you will wish it was.
I will say this bushnell will never get another dime from me. scope broke from recoil and they wanted me to ship it there and back on my own dime and told me it was pretty much my fault. scope was less than 2yr old.
If you don`t know what you want/need how do you expect others to tell you ? And if so,
what do you expect to learn. J s/n.
Check out the Natchez site. They have almost every kind of scope, rings bases known to man. You`ll need more than a scope.
Read the info. Get your self educated. Self informed is way better. Opinions at times can helpful but mostly confusing to someone who knows little or nothing about the subject.
Not being hard but rather getting you motivated to do some "learning" on your own.
My 336C in .35 Rem. wore one until I sold it.
Also had a Williams receiver peep. That's a little easier to manage IMO.
If your eyes are not to bad, just screw out the insert for a larger peep.
I've been hunting with a 336 for 30 years now, and a lot of my friends. We all pretty much have the same set up. Most common scope size for these rifles will be a 3x9 with a 32mm lens. And I cant speak for the new bushnell scopes but I have a 3x9 32mm bushnell trophy hunter that I have been using for 12 years now and still kickin'. Plus I would stick with the 3x9 32mm or a 1x4 24mm, anything bigger will make it heavier and take away the handiness of the rifle. In fact, I'll show how much I like the bushnell trophy hunter 3x9 32mm
I have the Vortex Viper 2-7x on my 336. I bought it a few years back when it was discontinued. I really like the Versa plex C3 reticle on it.
I took a Bushnell Elite 3200 SA 3-10x 40mm off of another rifle onto my son's 336 when I gave it to him for Christmas a few years back. It was supposed to be temporary but he likes the combination so much, I left it on there.
