Took a few toys to the range and the old Ruger MKII never fails to impress me. I swear I could be jumping up and down, falling off a roof even blind folded and still put all 10 on target.

This got me thinking what other gun out there can shoot like the MKII, and you can't say the MKIII :) but only in a bigger caliber ?? cause I like to buy one.

I've had mine for 25 years and popping cans still puts a smile on my face. Last month, I fired my new SP101/357 for the first time - all over the place at 25 yards and some shots didn't even hit paper. Back to the MKII, right on the money, but I guess that is exactly what it was made for.

Some: STI, Kimber, CZ and a number of other centerfire "long-barrel" guns with the right sights, ammo and shooter are capable of tight groups at 25 yds (or more).
None of them are as easy to shoot well as the .22.

P.S. the 124gr 9mm has about the same ballistics curve as the .22 cal

What length barrel does your .22 have?
What's the trigger pull weight?
Does it have a bull barrel?
What type of sights does it have?
How about the grips-thumbrest?

In a larger caliber?

32cal Hamerli 280 is the next best thing to shooting my worked over Bullseye Ruger MKII's. Next would be my Kimber Stainless II 1911 in 45acp. (OK, that one's been tuned a little too) 200gn H&G LSWC pushed by a nice light load of 3.8gns of Bullseye is very nice to shoot.

A Clark 38spl 1911 wad gun would be a nice brother to a Ruger MKII. Thing is, if you're talking a caliber jump, that compares to a MKII, then you're gonna have to spend a little more money.

If you're looking for a direct comparison, then I'd say Browning Buckmarks, Colt Trapper Target, and High Standard Target pistols are quite comparable, and a Smith 41 just a step up.

The Ruger MK II is a great .22 and can be accurized to match specs. The Browning Buckmark is als excellent. Maybe try a Buckmark like I did recently. They are wonderful and I need to add one to my collection.

Yes, my 3rd Gen Colt Woodsman Match Target 6 inch shoots great, but I get better groups with my accurized MK II. The Woodsman will ALWAYS remain stock.

The guy specifically asks for a bigger caliber, and 5 of 8 responses tell him to get another .22?

I should read the OP more thoroughly. Nothing will shoot like a single action .22 auto. I would go with an single action 9MM or .45 like a P7M8/PSP, 1911, or CZ-75 SA. The CZ's are nice as you can get a Kadet Kit adapter and shoot 22LR, the 1911's accept a Ciener or Marvel .22 unit also.

Probably the most accurate centerfire pistol I have shot was a Thompson Contender in .308. Its really nothing like a MKII, but I can hit the steel plate at 200 meters all day with it. Bench shooting with a TC is virtually effortless.

Beyond that, my Glock 20 and 34 are some of the most accurate autoloading guns I have ever shot. I also love Sig accuracy... I recently grabbed a new 226 with a .22lr conversion. It is a great shooter all around.

All of these guns are far more accurate than any of us are.

I like my MKIIs just fine, they are great guns for the money. I can't fuss about the Buckmark either. They have a different feel, but are just as good. I have shot a lot of guns over the years, and have found little that is any better.
