I want to see the DC ban go away. The crime rate is so incredibly high there. A return to the Second Amendment would have such a profound effect on the crime rate that there would no longer be any doubt of the effectiveness of an armed public in deterring crime.

As for California and San Francisco, they voluntarily have surrendered their 2A rights, so let them live with the consequences.

The DC residents never had a choice in the matter.

Actually, the 60% (and that's a pretty conservative estimate) have surrendered the 2A rights of the other 40%. I'm sure that the firearms prohibitionist lobbies would like for you to believe what you wrote there. Now they have a foothold by which to spread their agenda to other states.

I voted "OTHER". I think stripping the "sporting purposes" clause out of the '68GCA would solve a lot of issues.
At least without that clause the BATFEces will have a more difficult time of applying artbitrary and subjective criteria to importe and domestically produced firearms.

It would render Bush I's EO import ban null and void.

It would also take away ammunition from the antis since they couldn't equate gun rights with hunting/sporting purposes. A lot of anti gunners are anti hunting anyway because they recognize the value of a two pronged attack on our rights.

The other issues in the poll are state issues except for national CCW (which should fall under the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution just like drivers licenses) are a waste of resources since the people of those states allowed their rights to be taken away.

Get rid of the San Francisco gun ban. 2.2% 40 votes
4. Pass a right to keep and bear arms constitutional amendment in California. 6.2% 111 votes
5. Get rid of the Illinois Firearms Owner ID card (FOID) law. 1.3% 23 votes
6. Get rid of New York state’s assault weapon law. 2.2% 40 votes

Perhaps but the SCOTUS hasn't applied that. The issue is that unlike driving laws which follow the federal standards, gun laws don't.
Remember, the Gay marriage issue. Some States are refusing to honor those. Why can they do it, because there's no federal model.

Me, I voted for having SF's ban beat down. Just like Romell knew on D-Day, you've got to stop the beachhead. We must let this spread. Hit them hard when there's a small pocket and we can put this bad idea in its grave.

Something I would very much like to see our Pro-2A groups pursue is making public officials like the ones who ordered the N.O. gun confiscations and those involved in the B.A.T.F.E. gunshow background scheme in Virginia, personally face criminal or civil charges when they so blatently violated laws. Perhaps if some of these high rollers with big political ambitions find themselves cuffed in the back seat of a U.S. Marshals car, the rest of them will stop playing so fast and loose with their "Authority". The NRA and others took great pride in how they got a TRO to stop the N.O. gun grab, and kudos to them for that. But now whos going to make sure the people responsible are held accountable, the State Attourney General, the Southern Poverty Law Center? Dont hold your breath. I really believe that if we brought these people to task we would spend much less time and resource on fighting the little anti-gun brush fires they create. Nough Said:)
 
Of the choices listed, I decided to go with "National CCW." All other issues are really state issues; however, national CCW does fall within the Fed's power and it would be nice to be able to travel from state to state and not worry about what to do with my CCW.
 
All of the issues listed, as mentioned, are state issues save for the the Nat'l CCW really... And as near and dear as one of those state issues is to me... I casted a vote for Nat'l CCW. It really will be a victory for us if we get that.

One victory at a time...

Unfortunately, that's what the word "majority" means. Not really any spin you can put on it to make it otherwise.
 
I voted "Other," with the elimination of "sporting use" language from any laws, regulations, EOs, etc., as my choice.

Now, if you want national CCW recognition, I think that the way to go about it would be a Congressional finding that the right to keep and bear arms includes bearing arms in any manner, to include concealed, at the choice of the citizen. Further, that the Second Amendment is binding upon the states via the 14th.

Then start the court challenges.


"No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;"
 
How about a successful Supreme Court challenge of ALL INFRINGEMENTS ON THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS, such that the real meaning of the Second Amendment is clearly stated by the court in a decision that confirms that it guarantees an individual right?!

You know, a decision by the court that renders all anti-gun laws (and agencies) NULL and VOID.

That's a pretty lame poll. It mixes apples and oranges. If you're opening the poll to the citizens of the nation, the poll's issues should be national ones. Why aren't things like re-allowing manufacture and sale of select-fire weapons, or repeal of the NFA on there? :cuss: Forgive me for not thinking that Illinois' FOID is an issue I should be concerned about, living in Florida.
