What States allow suppressors?

Since this is a Suppressor thread, could anyone tell me if I need to purchase a tax stamp before I purchase a suppressor or can I purchase the Suppressor and buy the stamp later.

I guess another way to ask would be if I have a suppressor and it is not installed on a firearm, to I need to still have the stamp. Trying to see if I can avoid putting out all the money at once.

You can't take possession of a suppressor until an approved Form 4 (with a $200 tax stamp affixed) comes back to the seller from BATFE. Meaning you will need to save up enough for both the suppressor and the stamp. :(

wdlsguy Not the answer I wanted to hear, but I appreciate your clearing it up for me. BTW is the $200 tax a one time thing or do you have to pay it yearly? Please say no!

mrreynolds,
Please add this dealer to your list. http://www.firearmsolutions.com/index.html
I had the opportunity last Tuesday to shoot a Walther P22 with one of his supressors on it. Now I've got the itch real bad to get one! BTW, His price on the .22 supressor for the Walther is right around the $250 price including the barrel adaptor.

wdlsguy Once again, thanks for the info. That's what I love about this board. No matter what questions you ask, 99.9% of the time someone will have the answer. :)
