I got two of these and haven't a clue what they are. They're dated around 1970.
They resemble a grenade launchers but the sight elevation can't be set.
It has whitish squares that may have had tritium that's long expired.
I think they might have been stuck on the end of a machine gun for night sights but I have no idea what.
The ID is about .870".

That inside diameter suggests it might have something to do with a shotgun.

No, I dunno what it is.
 
Thanks everyone! I was racking my brains on that one. I was lacking the right search terms for an image search and there was no part number on it.
There's some more stuff I can't identify I'll eventually get around to asking about in the future.
