I am finally breaking down and buying a 1911. I have sigs, walther, glock, s-w, etc. But I shot a friends gun. A wilson. It was green. For whatever reason. And it shot better than my Glock 34. But my bud told me he paid a LOT of $ for it. Anything on a middle class budget out there. I have a wife to convince as well. Thanks for any info......Stevo

I also have about every gun in the book, I started shooting less than a year ago and already have 24 guns(I have found it's an addiction). My most recent purchase was a yugo sks because of the low cost right now, less than a 100 bucks, but I must say for the money the best pistol in my book is the sig 229, it's the most accurate pistol I have shot yet.

There have been a ton of 1911 threads, best overall, best budget purchase, etc.

Just do a search with different key words and manufacturers, i.e. Springfield Armory, Kimber, Rock Island Arms, Charles Daly, Dan Wesson.

And here are some to save you trouble...

I'm Looking to buy a 1911
Economic 1911 ???

It would help to know a budget, you can spend as little as $400 for a good Rock Island or Springfield or as much as $2000.

If your a handy kind of guy, you could spend anywhere from $600 to $1000 on parts and build yourself a gun as good or better than anything out there. As I was told not just yesterday "It's not a Swiss watch or Wounder Science!" Or was it rocket science? If not, buy a beater and learn from it, get it from grit and grind to buttered glass. Then build ya one. and another and another and another..........

This is my next project in the saving for line up.

My two bits, and worth as much as it costs.

I wonder what the guys at Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, and Les Bear say about this post.

Greeting's Sgt. Stevo

For a middle income budget, I find it quite hard
to beat the Springfield Armory MIL-SPEC 1911.
While the sights are small, these weapons run
like a fine Swiss watch! I've got a couple of real
good friends that own these 1911's, and both
of them have nothing but good things to say
about these weapons.

Best Wishes,
