Ah, missed the joke. Sorry. This site gets pretty judgy some days.
I was really about to rough your feathers by saying the only reason to own an AR or AK is if you're military , but even I couldn't bring myself to say such a thing even in a joke. Seems people on forums have no sense of humor anymore. Being condescending, insulting, and judgmental is the norm anymore. Kind of reflects upon our society if you ask me. Chivalry is dead. This is one of the only forums I participate in anymore, and sometimes I wonder for how much longer

Haha, I do have an AK I bought "just to have one" that I eventually want to get a scope on for gun deer. It is surprisingly accurate.

I may occasionally have sharp replies, but I never get emotionally riled up over internet, more of a sharp dispationate debate for me.

Life is too short.

The only guns I feel that is a valid statement for is a 1911 and a revolver. Everyone needs one 1911 and one revolver just to say they have one. A glock, not so much

I can name a few more guns that everyone should own to be a valid gun owner:

striker fired gun
hammer fired gun
something in 40
something in 9
something in 45
something in .357 Mag
something in .44 Mag
bolt action 30 caliber rifle
semi-auto sporting rifle
10/22 or Model 60
Mark I, III, or III
shotgun
something in an odd caliber

I'm sure the list can get bigger.

You both seem very courteous to this one. Please stick around.:)

I just perused a Gen five at the outfitter yesterday. I must say that I don't own one, I don't have hatred toward them, I do think that a tool in it's most elemental form is simple beauty, just not about a Glock. This Gen five looked slightly less ugly than the others there, but just felt wrong. Close to the same grip angle as a Ruger Mark II, but just not the same point-ability for me. It just lacks a certain, I-don't-know-what. (Dr. Evil)

I have been thinking about getting a polymer, rough use, I won't care if it's scratched firearm. I have shot an Xdm, held and pointed at least a dozen others. I don't envision a Glock shooting so well that I'll I would just buy it on the spot. If one does I probably would. I really hope the Beretta Apx is as nice feeling as it is looking. I find that one very interesting.

Which reminds me, I need something in .44 mag lol

That reminds me, I don't actually own a .22 LR. Only .22 mag and .17 HMR

I have one Glock, a model 19 gen 2 that I bought in 1989 soon after the model was introduced. Over the years I've shot this pistol more than my other hand guns except my .22 target pistol. The Glock is a great tool for self defense. It is durable, reliable, resists getting scratched or marked up. To me it doesn't have the aesthetic appeal of a wood and steel 1911, Browning HP, Walther PPK, or Beretta 92 but like a hammer in your tool box its useful.

The only advice I can give is to decide on caliber and them pick the model in that caliber that fits the size, use and purpose you want. Whichever Glock you pick will be reliable, durable and have sufficient accuracy required of a service pistol. Accessorize it with night sights and any other things that you may want after you get some experience shooting the gun.
