Unless you already have other guns, including revolvers, and you practice a lot, I would go with the ruger. It's definitely a good carry gun. And the 9mm round will do quite well. If it's only for carry; you have other guns for home defense; and you practice quite often; then there's also nothing wrong with the Walther PPK. It's the perfect carry weapon. Fits in the front pocket, IWB holster, inside jacket, etc... And with the right ammo, it is as dependable and reliable as anything on the market. But as a semi-auto, you need to be real comfortable with it. On the streets when you carry, you need to be able to clear the problem without even thinking about it. That means a lot of practice. Revolvers generally don't have that issue. Basically, pull the trigger and it works. No safeties, slides, magazine, extraction, ejection, etc... to worry about. But with practice, the Walther is also a great choice. 380 is quite good for self defense. You don't need large calibers or 15 rounds for carry purposes. I personally don't like the mouse guns because I like a gun that fits in my hand with all fingers wrapped around the grips. I love the walther.
