Thats my sw99. I love the gun. Ive put around 1500-1800 rounds though it so far since febuary. Havent had one hicup.
The smith is a fine weapon. Yea some argue the tollerances are different between the two, but holding each one Id find that hard to believe. Yea the walther in 9mm is prettyer I believe. If i were to get a p99 it would be a green 9x19. why? cause the green is cool
, and i like the slide of the 9x19 better. the 40 slide is like one long bilbored to me. And well its the orginal.
On the other hand i wouldnt get a 9x19 in the Smith. Why? Cause they didnt change the slide on the 9 from the 40. And the barrel doesnt do a slight taper back up to the full diameter. it bludges out at the end. It looks like a mushroom. That just appears *to me* to be a high wear spot. Cause the barrel moving around when the slide is back and then it slamming forward.
There are astethic differences. I like the checkering on the back and forestrap of the smith better than the continuation of the little dots on the walther. makes for a better grip IMHO. I like the squareish finger guard on the walther. The frame is basicly the same, the trigger is the same. the metalurgy is different cause we cant use tenffier in the US. Now which is better is an arguement. mellonite coated stainless, or tenfer treated cold steel.
if you get night sights go for metpro's instead of trijicon directly. mine are loose in the slide, the back one that is.
So on that...if you want one in 9x19 get the Walther (maybe in green
). If you want a .40 Id recomend the Smith. they designed the 40 after all
or the sub-compact id probaly go 9. the 40 i hear is snappy and easy to jam, thats hear say cause ive never shot one
