What to do with a Mini-14?

Why would a Ranch Rifle even need an aftermarket scope mount? It comes from the factory with Ruger’s excellent rings and attachment points machined into the receiver. You could pound nails with Ruger's scope mount, and not loose zero.

I would take the B-square mount off and sell it separately from the rifle. On the rifle it adds no value, in my view it would actually detract. $400 for the rifle sounds about right. Sell the mount on e-Bay. Some duffus will likely give move than what a factory new one would cost.

The newer models do. But the older models, like the one I have, don't have squat for for mounting a scope.

They are good truck guns and the 20round and 30round mags aren't too expensive from CDNN. I have one a like it for what it is. If you don't like it get rid of it. You could probably get $500 for that set up without a problem.

To the OP,

I own a Romanian AK and a Romanian Tokarev. Very satisfied with both, especially the Tokarev, it is accurate and I've never had a FTF except with bad ammo that was a dud. I've shot the Romanian PSL and was not that impressed. Honestly they look a lot cooler than they shoot and than they handle.

Tell you what I would do is buy an SKS-D. That would be a win for the truck gun and you could have AK mags. Whats not to love?

I agree w/ KMO. Put a Mo-Rod on it. I love my Mini and the mo-rod significantly improved performance and looks better than the accu-strut imho. It really tightened up my groups, and with a Hogue stock, I really do love my Mini.

Anybody that says an AR is more reliable than a Mini-14 is nuts. The Garand action is as reliable as it gets.

Don't get me wrong , I like ARs, but they are too darn expensive for what you get.

Not to mention that with a Mini, you can shoot any .223 ammo (Wolf, Brown Bear, etc.) while ARs usually choke on cheap steel case ammo.

As far as mags, yes ARs have cheaper reliable mags. You can get 20 and 30 round factory mags for some time for the Mini.

I would keep it, they are fun to shoot.

Rommy Tok - got one, installed a new barrel, link and bushing - still shoots about 4 - 5" groups at 25 yards -- "minute of commie." :D

Never a failure to fire, pretty slick trigger pull and roars!

Sell it, buy a better rifle. If its like the majority of minis out there from the older series it will be a poor shooter compared to most other .223 rifles. A saiga is more gun for the money in my oppinion.

Well I got 400 out of it at the gun show today, There were a lot of minis there. I guess I'll save up a few more bucks and try to find a PSL.

It is sad, but the trade-in at my lgs for my mini...well they offered me $300. I sold it to an individual for $400 and cussed.

Make your best deal and try not to give away the farm...as someone suggested...why not list it and ask for something you want in trade? Wouldn't hurt to try!

I guess I am nuts but the mean rate of malfunctions is much higher with a garand than a AR. There is a reasion they called them "jammy jenny" at one time.
But as for the mini they do make good beater truck rifles, takes a licking and keeps ticking deal.
