What Training Courses will you or do you want to take in 2009?

One of the following

Sure, I'd like to do them all (and more) but time and finance won't allow.

Shotgun (my kung-fu is weak)
urban rifle (my kung-fu is way rusty)
Low-Light handgun

Handgunning is my favorite platform to train with, so I'm guilty of neglecting the others for a couple years. I'll probably stick with either #1 or #2.

I'm planning to attend Randy Cain's TH101 course in May and Pat Roger's Carbine Op Course in June. That will probably be the extent of my formal training this year.

I will be taking LFI 1 in 2009.

I was signed up in 2007, but couldn't get the time off. It was touch and go for a while, but my "seniority" finally paid off in that I'm getting the three weeks off I requested. :)

LFI 1 and later in the year, two weeks at Disneyland. :D

The top of my list is attending an appleseed boot camp event/course this year.

http://www.appleseedinfo.org

I'm also going to take a few handgun courses from a couple of the local instructors.

The combination of ammo prices, travel, money, and starting a new job (YAY!!!) next week make going to one of the biggies like LFI, Gunsite, etc all but impossible for me at this point.

I intend on taking Tactical Response FP again ..this time with my lovely bride, and then take FR immed after.

a few NRA courses locally and if the budget allows...pistol/carbine at BW.

The Army is kind enough to send me to Staff College this year so that will about cover it. Won't learn a thing directly gun related but hopefully will learn a bit about military operations.

I'm going to try to hit:

Tactical Response's Fighting Pistol, The Fight, FOF, Fighting Carbine & Advanced Fighting Carbine

SouthNarc's Armed Movement in Structures, ECQC & IEK or PUC if we can get him out here twice this year.

Hopefully we can get the guys from Progressive FORCE Concepts out for Fighting with Firearms.

Surgical Speed Shooting w/Andy Stanford. He's also coming out for his one day Carbine Tactics that I'm hoping to be able to help teach this year. We'll see.

Unfortunately I'm part of one of those pesky bank buyout things this year so all of the above could be a no-go depending on my new employer. Keeping the fingers crossed.

Already signed up for Cumberland Tactics (Randy Cain) Tactical Handgun 101 (good annual skills tune-up). Planning to attend SouthNarc's PUC/ECQC1 and ECQC2 and Range Master (Tom Givens) Combative Pistol 1 and 2 (whenever he holds it). There are a few others I'm looking at, but they're "possible" at this point.

Jeff Gonzales Carbine in February
Randy Cain Handgun 101 in March (tune up for me)
Louis Awerbuck Intermediate Handgun in May
Pat Rogers Carbine in December (for the 4th time)

I hope to also squeeze in Kyle Lamb and Larry Vickers, but we'll see what the economy does to me.

I try to take at least one or two major courses and one or more minor courses each year.

My training plan for '09:

Magpul Dynamics Tactical Carbine.
Pat Rogers Tactical Carbine.
Appleseed (for the third or fourth time, because it's cheap and fun)

John

I plan on joining Obama's Civilian National Security Force... :uhoh:

But seriously:

-NRA Personal Defense in the Home

-Appleseed

Anybody know of any other defensive pistol courses in the PNW?

Try Firearms Academy of Seattle, Thunder Ranch & I'm sure some of the traveling schools like Tactical Response & Suarez Internationa (among many others) will be up there. I'd just look through the above posts, find the company websites & check the schedules.

I want to get into precision rifle competitions of the sort that involve non-standard positions, unknown distance, movers, ect. In other words, not benchrest or F class.

So, as cliche as the word is, I will be looking at "tactical" precision rifle courses this year. The word "sniper" may also appear in there somewhere.

I'm not sure... probably something along the lines of a tactical carbine or shotgun course. Maybe just another defensive handgun course from someone I haven't taken one from yet. Maybe an NRA certification course. We'll see.

Attended Larry Vickers Adv Combat Marksmanship and Jeff Gonzales Carbine Operators Course(COC) so far.

Not sure if I've already blown my wad for the year, but I'd like to train with Pat Rogers or Kyle Lamb and possibly a long range rifle class with Bruce Krell at some point.
