What was your first gun, and do you still have it?

When my wife and I decided to get into shooting, we really had no clue. The only experience I had was in USN boot camp, which was negligible. So our first purchases instead of a .22 of some sort were a Glock 22 for me, (our son-in-law carried one on the job) a S&W M&P in .40 for the wife, and a S&W 686 + in .357, just because. ;) We bought them all at the same time. This was before NJ went to the one pistol per month rules. Still have them in the collection...

My first gun was an 870 Express 12 ga deer slug combo. Got it at 16, 21 years ago and still have it. Order forms for high school class rings had just been sent out, and my mom came to me and said "this is our budget, pick out whatever ring you want".

I said, "Can I just take the money and get a gun?" She thought it was a horrible idea and that I'd regret not getting a class ring. Dad just smiled and said "sure, I think that's a much better idea than a ring". Dad was right. When class rings finally started arriving and my friends started asking me where mine was and I told them what I'd bought instead, most of them were pretty jealous they didn't think of doing the same thing.

A 2 1/2" inch barrel, S&W K frame 357 revolver. Bought it used and it still has the hammer with the firing pin attached. Bought it a couple decades ago and yes, still have it.

Sig P228, which I always have regretted selling. But I found another P228 which is a keeper.

I bought a Winchester model 190 22 used at a flea market around 1979 or 80 for $50. My dad went with me as it was not unusual to see used firearms for sale at this weekly affair. We then bought a used scope from my uncle for $10. I still have both. I wish I knew hope many rounds I have run through it over the years. Even with poor maintenance for many of those early years it shoots well to this day.

At 2 or 3, I got a Winchester model 67 .22 bolt action.Slightly bent barrel and a cracked and epoxied stock. Got it from my grandfather. Story is that while squirrel hunting he accidently got between a sow and her piglet and all he had was .22 shorts! After hitting the sow with the gun he spent a few hours up a tree. Gun shoots, but I've mostly put it up. First pistol was a Raven .25 auto that I didn't keep. First shotgun is a Stevens single shot 12 gauge that I got at 16. Kicks like heck but I hunted with it for years. Put up also as it was my dads first shotgun.

Turned 18 and bought a Winchester 94 Trapper (Angle Eject) back in 1983. Loved the gun. But sold it in 84 to buy a wedding ring set. :( Memo to self.....
I should have kept the gun. :D

My first was a Marlin 60 I got in 86. My brother got my grandfather's bolt action 22 in 85 and I was pretty upset that all I got was a bb gun( I guess technically that bb gun was my first.) lol. So the next year "Santa" got me my Marlin. I still have it to this day, and will have it till the day I die. Then it's off to one of my kids.

What was your first rimfire or centerfire gun? Do you still have it?
Remington 572. Bought it in 1969. Yes, I still have it.
