One of NY's new SAFE Act laws was a ban on mail order ammo and large orders have to be picked up through a business where they have to record your personal information. I think California already had mail order restrictions and other states require special i.d. to buy ammo at all. Virginia restricts handgun ammo to people with a license don't they? Lucky I have a .45 carbine...

Well...reading the Huffpo article it seems this guy had a long string of mental issues and was on probation for making terroristic threats. It says the rifle came form someone he knew but it does not say if it was sold, loaned, or stolen.
So once again we have another mentally disturbed school shooter.....Not to be sarcastic (too much) but I think I see a trend forming....

On the more liberal sites, I see this being pushed as evidence that the NRA plan to arm teachers or administrators is dumb and not needed (as though most school shooting incidents could be resolved peacefully as this one was). The fact that he was not legally entitled to own/posses the gun he was carrying puts a bit of a crimp in an argument that further restrictions are needed, although it might be used to argue for universal/expanded BGC's.

I wish somebody would get a duffle bag FULL of hammers (claw, ball peen, masonry, you name it...), go to a parking garage and commence smashing out a ton of windows.

Happens all the time. Where I used to live, 25 cars had their tires slashed in one night by three 17-year-olds with razor knives.
They called that 'vandalism'...despite of the fact that the very same weapon types were used for the 9/11 attacks....or that the dollar amount was far far beyond that necessary to deem it a felony here.
Had the same act been done with a firearm, it would have made the national news as a shooting spree destroying vehicles with hundreds of rounds.

The Coalition against gun violence is spinning this event, with the cafeteria worker talking down the shooter. They say school shootings don't need armed intervention, just someone who cares. Good luck with that!
