What would a bullet stuck in the bore sound & feel like to the shooter?

It happened to me with my 45 pistol. Sounded like the others said little to no noise at all. Damn Im glad I didnt fire another round. Thanks gut feeling.

A gas system wouldn't cycle the action if the bullet failed to travel far enough down the bore. A direct blowback system would. I'm not certain if it would be louder that usual, or quieter than usual. On one hand, modern rounds are designed so that they expand to fit the rifling, so if the cartridge goes off with extremely insufficient force, then it would likely just slide out of the barrel when you tipped it forward. Alternately, a round might just come apart in the barrel. The recoil would definitely be reduced because recoil partially comes from how much energy is released when the charge goes off. If the charge is too weak to push the projectile out, then it will naturally shove you a lot less. Now as how to get a stopped round out of a barrel, well, I'd consult an expert for that.

I've never had a bullet get stuck on me before, so what would I know?

Yep, wooden dowel. :)

Cleaning rods or steel rods can more easily deform the stuck bullet and leave you in a real mess.

MB,

Nope. :) Take a loaded cartridge and insert it bullet first into the muzzle of a rifle or handgun. It won't go very far. The throat is designed to squeeze the diameter of the bullet down to bore size.

Let's throw a curve at this:

Ok, to those who know, how do you detect a squib with a suppressor? Recoil alone?

Good one: "I carry a gun, because a cop is just too darned heavy, and hard to feed."

Even if you could carry a cop, you probably couldn't carry his donuts and coffee too! ;)

For me it was a puff rather than a pop.

This happened in a pistol though and did not push the bullet far enough into the bore to chamber another round(or cycle the slide).
