what would be a good scope for a 10/22 ruger?

The brand is your choice, I've scoped several through the years, don't go out and buy one for a 22. 3/4 in tube. get a good scope and mounts and you won't be sorry, you don't have to buy the most expensive scope out there but just get a good rifle scope. I've went the last few time to the 50mm scope, sure helps get the last bit of light at the end of the day, if your going hunting.

There are many choices available, what is your primary use? Hunting, target, plinking? It can make all the difference in your selection.

I would never put anything more than 200.00 on a .22

For my Marlin .17HMR I put on a NIKON. Their Buckmaster series are pretty decent and not too expensive.

Rimfire scopes are generally crap, but I wouldn't spend more than $50 for a .22 scope. I put a nice 4x32 Bushnell Sportman on my daughter's 10/22 for about $50. I put a 4x32 BSA on my wife's Marlin 60 for about half that. Both work fine up to 50 yards, which is about all a stock 10/22 is good for anyway.

Rings?

Dont wanna be a thread hijacker, but im wondering if someone could suggest rings also. I also have a ruger 10/22 and ive put on of thoes generic Cabelas scopes and it works great, my only compaint is the rings. I also bought generic Cabelas rings (you know the ones that come in half horizonally and have 4 allen key bolts) and i cant stand them. The scope always moves in them and to take the scope off is a PITA. Id like rings that mabey have a disconnect throw lever also something more durable, the Cabelas rings are soft alumium and have alot of shearing around the mounting brackets. I also dont wanna spend an arm and a leg. thanks :D

Leupold!

When I purchase new optics, I tend to spend 2-3 times as much on the scope as I did the rifle. Leupold has never let me down. Buy the mounts and rings with the scope. You'll spend a small fortune, but you'll have a setup worth it's weight in gold.

I have a Mueller APV on my 10/22. Retail is around $115.00. It's worth it (in my opinion). I had a Bushnell 3x9 on the rifle before - there is more than a significant difference.

check out www.rimfirecentral.com for everything you ever wanted to know (and few more things) related to .22's.

Good luck.
