I started a gun safety page on LouisianaCarry.org.

I take firearms safety seriously (I am a NRA certified Range Safety Officer, volunteer at my local range, etc.), but I could use some help figuring out what to add.

Here is the page: louisianacarry.org/safety

Just the Four Rules so far.

Help me think of good stuff to add.

Thanks!

Great site, I would also add supplementary rules of gun safety,

1. Eye & ear protection requirements and why they are needed.
2. Staying away from alcohol and drugs in a shooting environment.
3. Keeping unathorized parties away from firearms
4. The importance of knowing how your gun operates, the importance of training. Reading the gun manual, etc.
5. Being familiar with your local, state, and federal laws pertaining to firearms.
6. Using the correct ammunition in your firearm.
7. Keeping the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it. ,(with an explanation of the fact that firearm utilized for personal protection can be loaded because they are READY to use, its important to make that distinction from long term storage firearms).

Nice site, especially like the images portion - I didn't like the photo of million mom march or the dead kids in school room, though (a little too close to the heart, but definately make a point). I recognize a lot of those as Oleg Volk's - Is he OK with you using them?

Always maintain your firearms.
Know how to properly disassemble and maintain your firearms.
Always use a holster that covers the trigger while carrying.

The one thing I wish they would train. After visual inspection, insert finger for manual inspection. Just because the slide goes back and forth doesn't mean extractor is working properly. How many ADs could have been prevented? This easy inspection can save lives since bullets do penetrate walls.
