What Year MFG for this Sweet 16?

Friend at work is looking for some information on a Browning Auto 5 sweet sixteen.
We looked up the serial number but it doesn't correspond with what's on the receiver.
Pretty sure it starts with an " X ", and the number is 87XXX, this is throwing us for a loop.
I'm will be the first to admit that brownings aren't my thing- love them , just like the berettas more.
Anyways, he is going to see if the " X " is actually an " H "- it might be,that would help clear up the confusion. This is a NICE shotgun, round knob and very clean.
Just want to know the year MFG.

It would be an "x". Your friends shotgun was made between 12/31/52 and 6/30/53.
An "h" was never used as a part of a serial number on sweet sixteens.
