I limited out, but it wasn't because I was shooting particularly well. We had a heckuva hunt yesterday. I came close to 4 boxes of shells for 15 birds.
I'm right there with you redneck. Yesterday was my first go-round with the dove. I got 4-1/2, but shot 23 shells. What choke are you using? Mines imp/mod, but I can't seem to drop em' if they have any kind of distance. Not sure if it's I'm not leading enough or maybe using wrong choke.
Typically Mod for me. keep shots to max 40 yds. Swing through your shot. This is the part I was having troubles with yesterday. I had back surgery a year ago to fuse 4 vertebrae. This is my first wingshooting outing since then. I've also not shot much skeet lately. I was having trouble swinging smoothly on close fast moving birds. The farther birds that were moving slower relative to my position I was having no trouble with. Once I got up on the balls of my feet and got my swing down I was doing OK. Still not great, but OK. Need to spend more time on the clay range.
I'm no wingshot but averaged exactly 3 shots per bird bagged yesterday. Of course, I don't use those ridiculous tight chokes or attempt 60-yard shots either.
Was my first time ever dove hunting today, and it was a blast. I used my Beretta 391 Urika. We got five doves between the three of us, not great but I did get one of them.
Brasskeeper: we grilled ours with bacon and jalapenos on little toothpicks. Nothing fancy, i'm sure there are guys on here with actual recipies but they sure tasted good.
