Whatever happened to that pharmacist in Oklahoma who was caught on security camera walking back indoors after chasing one of two robbers and shooting a previously shot robber lying unmoving on the floor.

Seems like there was a big discussion here about whether he was justified in taking a couple of more shots if the guy was just lying on the floor bleeding.

Anyone here recall how that turned out?

It hasn't turned out.

The trial is still pending, but Erslund's attorney has asked for the case to be dismissed:

The biggest issue with the case is Erslund's made some statements on the record that are outright lies (such as prior military experience, etc). He's his (and his attorney's) own worst enemy. There could be no worse model for our constitutional right of self-defense than him in this instance.

Still, I am convinced he should not have faced trial.

According to this thread he was charged with murder.

I just searched this forum for "Pharmacist". It wasn't hard to find.

Or were you just trying to re-open a closed issue?

I think ArmedLiberal was asking for the outcome of the event.

Again, he was charged with murdered. Charged. Not yet tried, and acquitted or convicted. So the issue is not yet closed.

I did a ten minute search of THR using "Pharmacist", went back into 2009 a bit and didn't see any threads. Do you have helpful 'Search' tips for the inexperienced?

Thanks for the thread, it has just what I was looking for.

No disrespect to the OP, to the Pharmacist, or to anyone else but it's pretty cut and dried... If the guy is on the ground in a puddle of his own blood because he's been shot in the head, I doubt there's a need to "finish him off".

Obviously I wasn't there and didn't see exactly what happened, so I can't comment on the status of the head shot suspect, but it appeared to me that the threat had been ended successfully with the head shot.

I think this story is a good example of what NOT to do in a SD situation. The pharmacist had no need to chase after robber #2, nor did I see (though there could have been reason off camera) any valid threat after the pharmacist returned.

In "General Gun Discussions", I clicked the "Search this Forum" button at the top right corner above the first thread. Typed in pharmacist and hit "go". The thread I found was was a little over a screen down. It was started in May 2009 so maybe you just didn't go far enough back.

Asked and answered.

Let's start a new thread on this when a verdict has been reached.

The dangers of "extra" shots after the attacker is down have been hammered over and over in S&T -- no reason to continue those arguments here -- and speculating on what punishment he will get or should get is largely pointless.

When the case is tried and the jury decides, we'll have something informative to work with.
