I went looking for a Marlin 336 in 35 Remington a few weeks ago.I looked at,literally, three dozen Marlins.ALL were in .30-30.Every single one of them.
Unbelievable.

Not too long ago, back in high school,it seems to me that every friend I had had one of these at home. Now it's not even cataloged.Wierd.

I felt so bad I went and bought another Smith to console myself.:D
I think that it's kinda sad though, the loss of a cartridge that is.

It is listed in the Marlin website - the 336C -available in 30-30- or 35 Rem. The 30-30- and 35 rem seem to be the same on paper but if you talk to those who have used both for hunting they will tell you that the 35 is much better - it just punches a bigger hole .Buffalo Bore now makes a nice 220gr load which I heard favorable comments on from deer shooters. Still used a lot here in NY.

My buddy had one for sale this weekend at my ranges annual swap meet. They are pretty popular here as there is a lot of brush hunting in this neck of the woods. I myself prefer the marlin in 45-70.

I got mine in 1971 for $65 new.
:fire: I had to pay $225 for my 1970 model that I got used in 1985. But it came with two boxes of ammo and a strong tobacco smell that took three years to wear off! Broke its scope in 1999 and put another one on it. Has see through mounts. Needed to loctite the screws myself. :D

My dad just picked up one the other day only because he couldn't turn down the deal. The rifle is a little on the rough side but still very serviceable. I imagine it will wind back up on a trading block somewhere.

The 336 in 35 Rem was my first deer rifle too. I wonder how many started out this way? Still have it and intend to pass it down to my son.
