I'm new to handguns and just started shooting. A friend offered to sell me an Astra A100 for $425. It's been hard chromed and he said it had some other work done on it, although I can't remember exactly what. Does this sound like a reasonable price? I shot it today and really like it. I was able to shoot a good pattern with it.

Thanks.

I think thats a little high, But all my experence is with Astras older models. Gunbroker shows one for sale for 300 bucks. I sold my A80 (i think) for 250.

You can always go to Gunbroker and look up the sold auctions to find a reasonable going rate.

Most of the research i've done shows them between $300-350. The hard chroming is $200-300. Based on that I was thinking $425 seemed like a good deal.

You cant just go somewhere and find a good price. Every part of the country is going to pay different, and everyone will pay a premium for a gun they want. I still think thats a bit high, since that exact gun is on gunbroker for 300 bucks. 295 to be exact. Nickel finish and everything. fior 425 you can go buy a nearly new Glock or XD, not a spanish knockoff of a sig.

But if you disagree, then go and grab it. All that really matters is that you like it and it shoots straight and true. Then who cares how much it is...

Thanks kingmedicine. I don't disagree that it's not worth it. I was explaining my logic of why I thought it was worth it. I asked the question here to get the type of feedback you gave.

Thanks.

But do be aware that the company that made the Astra is no longer in business and if you need parts it may be a bit hard to find those parts.
