q4304 Winchester 9X23 jacketed soft point...

It is a bit loud especially if one had to shoot indoors.

Of course 000 buck is roughly 9mm and I've some of that, too... :)

honestly any current quality manufacturer of JHP ammo is going to be as effective as the next. Whether it'd be Hydrashok, Gold Dots, Golden Sabres etc...

I'd say just buy a few boxes of each and take em' down to the range and see which ammo your gun likes.

Thank You....I've been preaching that for years, nobody listens to me...I actually carry the cheap WW White Box 115 GR HP in my Kahr PM9. I can buy hundreds of rounds of it, I know where it hits, I KNOW its reliable in my gun. That beats the heck out of $17.00 a box "designer" ammo that I THINK will feed reliably out of my gun, but, I'll never know because I can't afford to run a few hundred rounds through it. I really hate the "Well, what is your life worth?" argument....being confident in a marginal bullet beats being unsure of the latest "quadro expanding mushrooming penetrator Special Forces Operator hollow point" and how it will function in my gun...

guns and ammo

HK USP Corbon +P
Browning HP Mk IIIs Winchester Silvertips

I don't want to use +P ammo on the B-HP bcoz its an older design. The HK has 2 springs in the recoil rod and soaks up alot of the recoil.

124gr Speer Gold Dots!!!!!!!!!

Not the most economical to practice with from time-to-time, but a good habit.

Right now, 124gr Federal Nyclad. When the last of my Nyclad stash dries up, I going to Gold Dot. MY HP and CZ like both.

There are plenty to choose from. Pick the one that works for you and your pistol.

All of the hollow points from major manufacturers would be acceptable. I use Federal's EFMJ 124gr. +P because of the amazingly consistent expansion and because it feeds exactly like an FMJ.

I've shot Golden Sabers, XTPs, Starfires, Rem. JHPs, Corbon, several FMJ brands, and my favorites are Hornady TAP FPD 124s -- perfect operation, low flash and recoil, excellent expansion with good penetration.

Golden Saber 124+p

For the BHP.
Golden sabers in all my guns except the .357 mag, where double tap wins every time.

I did some low light flash testing out of my Kahr PM9 with a 3" barrel (versus a standard 4" 9mm barrel). In all I did 6 types of ammo. The Speer Gold Dot 124 +P had a nasty recoil and significant flash. Fenderal Hydrashok had a very nasty flast (124 gr Premium, not +P) where you see a large vapor flash of whitish light about the size of a volleyboll. Both Golden Saber bonded 124 and 124+P have very subdued flashes and most of the flash they produced was in the form of slower burning powder bits, not vapor/gasses. Also, the +P version did not have a bad recoil at all and certainly nothing like the Speer GD 124+P. Based on various evaluations, the Golden Saber bonded 124 and 124+P are good performers. So, given that the GS is a good performer and has a low flash, it was the better choice of the ammo I tested for a PM9.

For all I know, the flash of the GD and Hydrashok may be much more subdued out of a full size or longer (4") 9mm barrel.

I would feel comfortable with any JHP round from any of the major ammo companies. I do, however, prefer Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P.

Hello. I normally have either Winchester 127-gr. +P+ or Corbon 115-gr. DPX +P in my Hi Power. Now and then I've carried the plain old Federal 115-gr. JHP and not felt "unarmed" at all. With many of today's expanding bullets, I'd check for reliability and accuracy as the main determinants in my choice.

Speer's 124-gr. Gold Dot has done well for me in several Hi Powers, both in its standard and +P versions and ditto Remington's 124-gr. Golden Saber.

I've also had very good luck with the less-aggressively expanding Hornady XTP in the 124-gr. weight and usually very fine accuracy.

If interested, here is some information on the newer 9mm DPX:

Best.

Remington bulk 115gr JHP - goes where I put it, and Evan stated it was a decent choice. Someday when I can afford it, I'd like to get a few boxes of EFMJ and see how they do. Wish I could carry my reloads....
