I have a three inch Smith and Wesson model 65 that my father carried plain clothes. It was manufactured in 1985, and has been fired very little...it has original holster with it. I'm just trying to get an idea of how much this gun is worth. I've heard the three inch Smith's are very desirable. Any infomation would be appreciated.

RB 3", GB has people asking $350 for trash to $900 for polished and not a lot of bidders.
You have box, grips etc.?

You would have to be nuts to pay extra for a polished S&W!

Whatever collector value the rarest S&W ever had went out the window when the polish came out of the tube.

Collectors pay extra for original factory finish.
Not a Mothers Mag Wheel Polished, blinged out wondergun.

@Waidmann. No box or grips. My dad put the pachmyer grips on it years ago. It does have a professional action job and a cut in green sight.

Savage1911,
The grips are a bit of an issue as is the sight alteration. Not wanting to start anything but books don't buy guns. In our market, selling it yourself, not to/thru a dealer I would ask $ 450 and take $375. I say that solely based on the current fad for 3 inch barrels. I walked out of the gunshop last week with a decent 4 inch 65 wearing Houges for $250 out-the-door, tax, background etc. There are a covey of what I think are ex-prison guns (usually the worst cosmetically) on Gunbroker for $360 up and no bidders (remember a least another $50-60 additional to get it home).

If you were in TN and wanted to sell I'd be suggesting a Face-To-Face meeting.

3" model 65's are very desirable. They are getting harder to get.I would think $400 low end to $475.I would not think of selling mine for less than $475.
