"I could never that kind of accuracy out of my old stock 10/22 carbine, even with the same scope."

Sorry to hear that! Different strokes for different folks. I can shoot plenty fine with my 10/22 carbine and my Remington 597! It's all good, go with it!!!

my 10/22 I got this spring is a jam o matic. Haven't found the right magazine/ammo combo. Frustrating

If you have a scope on this 10/22 make sure the screws that hold the mount are not too long and putting a drag on the bolt. That's about the only thing that I have ever saw slow a 10/22 down! Most of the time it something like this that's a very simple fix ........after you find it!

Pawnshop Marlin 60 with a 4x scope and a sling. Get one with a good even crown (area at the muzzle) with no dings in it. Mine shoots into 0.6" at 50 yards with cheap ammo. Take the action out every 1000 rounds or so and spray it down with brake cleaner to get all the gunk out. Relube and you're good to go. A well-maintained Marlin 60 will run a hundred thousand rounds plus.
