Whats the most desperate you've been to buy a gun?

See the attached picture....$1500 later...I dropped the idea of getting a new pistol no more than 10 minutes after we left the store....

In my defense, this year is our 10th anniversary. Hmmm...she asked what I wanted...maybe a nice Springfield 1911 would do the trick....

First you buy a big safe. Don't tell your wife the combination. Only have a couple out at a time. Works for me. :D

Seriously though, I'm a good provider for my family and I buy whatever I want to buy. As long as I'm meeting all of the obligations I've set for myself, I see no reason not to.

Well in dealing with the Mrs. I leanerd a couple of things:

1. Never buy a gun in with her present. I think even the BATF gets bad vibes over the phone when doing the background check and the poor seller...........
2. I give myself an allowance, it varies a bit but its about $60 every two weeks. I take my daughter out for a doughnut and coffee (ok we get a doughnut and I get coffee) and such, but most of it gets set aside for "Randy's toy box". I also keep the extra cash that comes around on birthdays, work bonus, etc. and simply save up and buy whatever, whenever.
3. Sometimes the gun is worth the bitching afterwards.
4. Bribery works. (I buy a gun for me and a ring/coupon for a massage, etc. for her.)
5. Family gifts (i.e. Brother why don't you, dad, etc. pick up that _________ for my birthday.
6. using the "need it" arguement does not work in my house. My wife still doesn't understand why I can't use my kel-tec .32 to go deer hunting and to shoot skeet.
Pick your battles and make your wish list of guns a based on priority.

i sometimes get a "hunger" for another gun, not a particular one, just another one. it bothers me until i go get one. what is heartbreaking is cruising the display case and seeing that i have a better selection than they do. i thank them and head for another store. sure enough, i will eventually get home with something i dont really need.

as far as the wife goes, she has guns, shoots, and handloads. she has her own income, also has ccw. only prob with her is no matter what i come home

with, she wants it. she had never shot until i dated her. i have created a

monster, but, she is too purty to toss back. i would not swap this woman for seven hollywood starlets. i am blessed. the first wife said that the guns were going or she was. she was not anti gun, she just felt i should not spend so much time with them (jealous ?). super cute, just high emotional maintenance. oh, on the original topic, i hunger for a SnW 500 and a bushy.

It's great being married to my wife...

DWS1117,
First of all...man you crack me up!!! :D
"My wife has been very good this year. After Christmas 2003 she let me buy a gun under the agreement that I wouldn't buy anymore and we could put the funds to other uses like the house. At the time I had 2 guns. Somehow during this year of not buying any guns, I ended up with 9. So, I can't complain."

NINE! You are doing great! I love it!

Regarding my bride:

We are best buddies and when I want something, she's the first one to say "get it".

Of course, one thing I try to do is keep one or six steps ahead of her...when it's been a while since I sent her flowers...flowers are sent. When it's her birthday, I spend more on her than she spends on me (sometimes a little more, sometimes a lot more)...when she looks tired, I volunteer a neck rub (or more ;-P)...when it's been a while since we went out, I recommend we go out for dinner...I have more fun keeping her happy!!

Thus, fortunately, I'm blessed with a wonderful woman who "let" me buy these two fun toys. One purchased the Monday before Christmas and the other the Monday after Christmas:

Oh man that's funny - the last ring my wife bought cost $12k! Now this did "open the door" so to speak for me to buy my Uzi (which I have about $8k into) and a bunch of other guns. Oh yea and a Rolex. :)

I cannot buy jewlery for the wife as she is way too expensive now, but she gets what she wants and I get what I want. She said no again today to the R/C Helicopter but I'll keep working on her! :p

So VonFatman, are you sure we're not married to the same wonderful woman? Those are my wife's words exactly. "If you want it, go get it!" She really likes shooting my .22s, and I've tried to get her into Cowboy Action Shooting and she has her own set if guns, but she doesn't love the hobby as I do, although she keeps my S&W 66 .357 very handy. I believe I've lost that one to her.

Tinkerer,
Well, you know, we are both blessed with such great ladies.
Karli got me a S&W 28-2 for my wedding gift...I picked her up a sweet S&W 15-4 a few months later...in her favorite flavor....nickel.

I'm very happy for you!
Happy New Year to you both!!

Bob

We do pretty good for ourselves...but someone always does better
:p
She was thrilled to get what she did. We've spent the last 2 years paying $40,000 ish in credit card debt down to $4,500 as of this month. Few more months and we'll have $1000 more a month in spending money.

Congrats on getting so far. That is one very difficult accomplishment. I am sure you and your wife did a whole lot of going without, but it will really be worth all the effort. Once it is all the way paid off, the extra money will be like getting a large pay raise.

What can I say? Once an only child always an only child. :D
