Please explain the reasoning behind this name.
Was the reason for the name because it's the most popular gun in the world or did the name involve something more specific about Texas or American culture?

Interestingly enough the name of the team existed for at least one year before the malt liquor.

LOL....Ask Dick Barkley...he was at the feed store this morning actually.....
It was the result of a "name the team contest"....nothing more nor less....Dick was the PA guy there in the first few years....

And it sounds like a coincidence that you saw Dick Barkley there this morning.
There must have been something especially appealing that made that name the contest winner, at least to the contest judges.
Even though the name didn't last long, it sure was a good one.
