I am planning on getting a T/C Venture in 308. I havent ever loaded for a 308 and see there is a lot of powder options and wondered what you guys liked.

I have a bunch of ammo so I have not loaded 308 in a while. I do like some of the powders in the TAC, & H4895 range, for 165 & maybe a few 150 grn bullets.

Good results with IMR 4895 or 4064 for a semi-auto, 168gr for targets / 165 gr spitzer for hunting.

right now im using 4198 under 110g v-max and 4895 for 130g + bullets great results with both.

Varget, RL15, BLC(2), WW748, IMR4064, are good places to start with 150 or 165 gr bullets. There are many other powders that work well. Good luck.

I was using 147gr and 175gr, both military pulls with WC846 and TAC. The 175gr with WC846 gave me some great groups.

IMR 4895 and Varget have both worked very well for my use.

RL-15 has been the hands down winner for 150 gr, 155 gr, 165 gr, and 168 gr bullets. I had really good results using Varget since that was what I had always heard the bench rest guys use. It was very good, but the RL-15 is consistently just a little bit better. I did have some excellent results using TAC for the little 110 gr HP bullets.

My favorites are IMR-4064 and AA-4064. My shooting buddy reports good results with Re-17 but haven't shot any personally. From what I hear, about ant of the midddle burn rate powders will give good results. Your rifle will tell you what it likes. Good luck.

100% vote to RL15, hands down the best for me with 168 and 175 SMKs in my R700AAC and my DMPS SASS.... Varget is 2nd best, not to far behind, but RL15 works better for me.

There you have it, a clear cut winner!

It's TAC.

Or Varget.

Or H-4895.

Or IMR-4895.

Or IMR-4198.

Or RL-15.

Or W-748.

Or IMR-4064.

Or BLC(2).

It doesn't get clearer than that! :D

I've been loading 168 gr Noser hpbt's with IMR-4895, 500 of'em. I've been getting stellar results with this combo, remmy 700 sps tactical. I've got no reason to switch to anything else, this is working great for me.

Another vote for RL15. Excellent in my 700 Police Remington. Like a bit better than Varget. I say a bit because Varget is 1/2 MOA accurate and RL15 is about 1/3 MOA accurate...when I do my part. This is with SMK168s and Federal match primers.
