I had a horrible infection and lost my left foot.
have a wheelchair and am learning to use a Prosthetic. Stand-up shooting is a ways off.
I have a 12Ga home built riot gun, and a 20 Ga double. Both can be shot sitting for now.
I anticipate teaching myself to shoot em again with excitemwnt!

There's a boy here close to me that confined to a wheelchair. He hunts deer and duck hunts regularly with his family.

Hope you get used to your new peg soon. Lost my right leg below the knee while I was playing Army with Uncle Sam. Hope your prothesist is a good one and not one of those new guys who thinks computers are the only way to go.

I use a pin suspension and they are light years ahead of the old belt types, if you have a choice. Some will start you off with a basic fiberglass model with a cushioned heel, what they call a SACH foot, then as you get used to it, they will transition you to an active foot and it makes all the difference in the world. People at my job didn't know I was an amputee until they had a shorts day, and the look on their face was priceless.

Most of all, take your time with getting used to your new peg. You might not be able to wear it all day at first, but don't let it discourage you. I was back bird hunting within 6 months of my amputation.

Make sure you set the brakes on your chair before blasting away with your 12...it could get interesting, and maybe a grin with the spin!

This isn't in a shooting context - but you'd be amazed to see how some folks can still get around in a chair.... this pic is one of my anglers - the photo was taken at around 30mph - and the guy can put the fly exactly where it's needed.... when we got where we were going....

You can do anything you set your mind to.... that pic is in the salty portions of the Everglades, and it was a "no wind" day... When the wind came up I shifted him down as we ran then got him up onto the forward deck for the fishing....

Good luck. I've been bound to a wheelchair the last few years but still manage to go shooting about every week. ( whenever my friend can drive me to the range )

I'm shooting pistols but have seen a number of shotgunners at the range as well.

Don't get discouraged. People will help you along.:)
