Palmetto State has been having some pretty good sales on blemish lowers. I picked these up for $169.95 each with free shipping.
They looked good at first glance but something was odd. Then I noticed that the lowers were not black, they're gray.

Two of the lowers had their Enhanced Polished Trigger, which was a nice plus.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. I was thinking about er-coating the lowers, but one of the lowers was a nice gray color. Last night I pulled a Magpul MOE gray grip out and it matched the lower pretty nice. I looked around the shop and found a MOE buttstock, SL handguard and triggerguard in Gray.
I had an extra a PAS M4 upper with a 1/7 Black Nitride barrel sitting in a box and an AIM nickel boron BCG.
So I made some Gray Lemonade.

I just ordered a Magpul gray MBUS rear sight to finish it off.

I wouldn't give the off-color a 2nd thought (and it ain't like they're lavender,LOL!). You knowingly bought blemished items from a budget-oriented operation, so looks are obviously secondary to economy.
As long as they function, and aren't really ragged out, I surely wouldn't have even considered any further effort or expense. I'd run with them, as is.
Besides, haven't you noticed? The 2-tone thing is 'in' right now! :D

Nice looking two tone AR.

I am partial to two-tone AR's. All black ones have no soul whereas two tone ones reflect some personality.

Thank you the photo. I am currently considering what colors I want my next AR to be and have been looking for good photos of Magpul Gray ones.

I'm very happy with Blems. They are just going to get scratched anyway.
I had been thinking of building another AR in Gray and just got lucky with the colors on these.
I still plan to re coat one of them to match the Upper I did in FDE.

Looks good to me too Gunny. Kind of like how it's different (but not radically different), and not your typical all Black Rifle.

Gray is good, I have a few Colt SP1 rifles which are gray. Thinking back, way back, I think the M-16 I had in Vietnam was gray but can't recall for sure. Anyway, gray is just fine. Military parkerizing on rifles like the M1 Garand came in gray and black as I recall. Long as a blemish does not effect form, fit or function I don't see where it matters.

Looks good to me! Both of my current AR's are built on PSA blem lowers, and I'm really not sure what the blems are.

Bonus pic of the 20 incher I just finished, based on a blem lower.

I recently picked up one of their blem lowers with the enhanced trigger as well. Needed it to replace an Anderson lower that was out of spec a little bit. I couldn't find the blemish on it. Maybe Ill have to recheck the color in some good lighting.

As I have already brought several stripped lowers I am looking for blem stripped uppers for future projects.

What are you going to use to recoat the lower to match the FDE on the Upper?

I'm going to use Brownell's Aluma-Hyde II. Might go with OD Green furniture on it.
Primary Arms has Anderson stripped uppers for $49.95, limit one per order.
