When using a co-witness red dot, do you ignore the front sight?

You ignore the front sight as much as possible. As much as you can ignore something while still seeing it. Absolute co witness, the dot will sit right around the top of your front sight. Lower 1/3, will sit lower, naturally. Warrior poet has a video that explains it better than I can.


I like to run 3MOA optics with absolute co witness iron sights. Worked fine for me in the Army and still does. Old habits and all.
