When you die, where are your guns going?

Methinks that I just might need my Mauser K98 for protection on the Netherworld journey to achieve spiritual renewal and ensure union with Ra.

My wife would keep her hand gun but all the rest would go to my brother who would sooner loose a limb than sell a gun. When I orderd my Les Baer .204 supervarmint rifle during my first deployment in Iraq I sent my little bro a copy of the bill of sale and a noterised letter telling him what gun shop in Yuma had my rifle waiting for me. Just in case I didn't make it back and he was more than happy to baby sit it during the second deployment.

Being that I'm only 27, its a bit soon to think about whats going to happen to my guns when I die. But if it were to happen in the near future, I'd want my S&W model 66 (no dash :), (it's my baby) ) placed in the casket with me and the rest of my guns could go to my father.

California gun laws for the dead

I see that a lot of us think were taking them with us. I intend to as well, but in the Republic of California, I bet they will search me one last time to be sure I am not packing heat.

Does anyone know if there are laws governing what you can be buried with?

There is no such thing as death with Jesus Christ.
:D:D:D

You might be sure to mention that to the undertaker when the day comes he's busy stuffing you in that pine box.

geez......

I don't know who will get them, but I will have to leave them some money for ammo. I wouldn't want the guns to just sit in a closet somewhere.

When I die they go where they go. I'll be as dead as a doorknob and won't be conscious of anything going on anyways. Depressing thought, but it seems like the most probable case.

My guns will probably end up in some evidence locker... Just kidding.

And if you really believe there is no death with Jesus then why bother packing a pistol on your hip?

Good question, which makes me need to ask my own question.

What happens to items that are on 03 forms? Specifically, full auto and AOWs? It's my understanding that unless they are registered to a trust then the ATF gets them.

Appreciate any answers.

Well, I would hope that my kids and grandkids will take a great interest and I will be able to pass everything down to them. If it doesnt work out that away them friends are next on the list, their children and grandchildren. Basically, I would want them to go to someone who will appreciate and take care of them. Thats what its all about.

I'm only 47, but who says I will live to die of old age..my best friend died at age 43, 4 yrs. ago..." to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord." I had to throw that in from previous posts, anyway, I have 2 sons, the oldest one is to have first pick, he'll take the AR I'm sure...it will go back an forth until all is gone...I chose my first son first on this because he is
more enthusiastic about shooting an collecting guns.....

I'm still trying to decide who my guns would go to when I die, my families not keen on them, my moms boyfriend likes guns but i'm not sure how long he'll live due to hepatitus, I'm not sure my girlfriend would want them, maybe someone in my family or one of my cousins would want them as long as it's on my mothers side.

I have no kids of my own, and my two stepkids ain't getting none of my guns. They'd both stop at the first pawn shop and sell 'em for the first cash offer. Stepdaughter couldn't own one anyway.

My grandson has a good chance, if he keeps his nose clean and doesn't lose his right to own guns through being stupid like his mother. He sure loves to shoot though, I'm hoping he won't jeopardize that right, and that he learns from the mistakes of his parents.

If he fails, then my nephews are most likely to get them. Otherwise, I'll will them to my gun club so they can auction them to benefit the club. Maybe they'll put up an outhouse at the range in my name!

Well, I am 28 with a 3 year old son who already is in love with super heroes and protecting his momma. So when my time comes he will be getting my little pieces of happiness.

My estate goes to my wife. While she doesn't begrudge my interest in guns, she has zero desire to learn anything about them. She doesn't know how many I have. She doesn't even want to know the combo to the safe. BTW, I understand, accept & respect her reasons for thinking the way she does.

So when I'm dead and they break into the safe, I'm sure they'll be sold to a jobber. There's a good one in Greensboro whom I'm sure would be happy to get them. Nothing rare, all high quality, many expensive.

I'm ok with this. I bought them to give me pleasure. I also let anyone who wants to join me at the range and shoot them too.

But my wife is my wife and it's my job to look out for her when I'm gone. She can decide if she needs the money or wants to give them away to family or friends. Not me.

I figure mine will go to my brother and my son. I have 5 kids but only 2 shows an interest in guns so far. My step daughter shows an interest but mostly to be included. She will load but not shoot. Also my mother will get what she feels she needs for protection as she lives in a secluded place and her house has been broken into twice. If the other kids show an interest or their husbands for that matter than they will be added to the list.
