Where are reloading components available (Not a Discussion Thread)

Cabellas and Scheels have a metric buttload of small pistol primers, and nothing else.
 
Primers $.03 each instead of $.02...oh my, what shall we do? I'd be a lot more concerned about bullets and brass and some of the variations that are hard to find.

.03 X 1250/mo = $37.50...
.02 X 1250/mo = $25.00
An extra $12.50/month average

Now add in the price increases with bullets, some powders, brass and gas to get to the range.

Nobody likes price increases, but if unwilling or unable to participate in a seller's market, one either doesn't need the item or needs to shoot less. Granted the primers have at least doubled in price, but they are still a minor cost item.

Personally, I am not an IDPA, 1k per month shooter, because for me it is I Don't Participate Anymore.
 
The cost increase of the bullets is what disturbs me. I last paid $294 for 4000 bullets at Montana Gold, and now they want $368 for 4000.

Anyone have any leads on Winchester 308 brass? It is all I need to do some hand loading for the hunting rifle before season comes sooner than later. All I need is 100 pieces of new brass. It is a hunting rifle that would only send 10-15 rounds down range with this particular load, so this should last me forever.

The only place I've been able to find it is Cabelas. They recently had some on Saturday, I was only able to afford 250 cases of Win headstamp, but they were sold out in a matter of like 2 or 3 days.

Only thing I could suggest is keep checking cabelas. They'll eventually get some more. There's another site but I can't remember the name.

Yep, thats why I havent ordered from them for a while. They seem to have raised their prices more than anyone. Good bullets but plated shoots just fine. Heck I can miss with any of em.

You might be surprised, very surprised. Start with action shooting competitors from all over the world. Go on to other competitions--Bullseye--Bianchi ---NRA---++. Enthusiasts with a lot of firearms. Old retired GIs that enjoy shooting and loading.
 
California is about to ban lead bullets (atf already bans metallic bullets), so there might be a huge drop in demand, and lower prices coming soon.
 
California *might* ban lead bullets for hunting in the entire state. Right now about a quarter of the state is this way. This would not affect target shooting. A very tiny, tiny fraction of bullets launched are for hunting.

Besides I think only me and 13 other people in CA shoot guns.

1000 rounds a month? I guess if you were lucky enough to be able to go shoot twice a week, couple boxes of 50 each time, you are already at 10,400 rounds a year, which isn't far off. Some days you might shoot a third box.....
I can see how even a non competitive shooter could hit 1000 a month.
Not that I do, but I can see how one could.
 
My Wife and I are amateurs and serious about rebuilding our shooting skills and keeping them high for the upcoming CCW tests which include live fire. We have been shooting once a month with 200 rounds between us each session...that's 400 rounds right there.

She recently thought we should bump that up to shooting every Friday after work. Assuming we share a lane at the indoor range and the base rate is for an hour, we will continue to burn up 400 rounds a session. So we'll be a team shooting 1600 rounds a month very soon.

I'm reloading and adding calibers to include the ones we use and shoot so an increase in primers costs from 2 cents each to 3 cents each (that's a 33.33% increase!) is significant. Our biggest problem remains powder....we can't find it except by luck or extreme vigilance. Down and dirty fact is it's getting very expensive 'cause bullets are up and powder is up and primers is up and brass (or factory ammo to harvest the once fired brass from..) is up.

The local Scheels has been getting more and more stuff recently which saves the haz mat fee for powder. We live in Illinois so even getting bullets shipped gets stupid...we have to have them shipped to Iowa and pick them up from her Mother or ship them to work.
