The Browning BPS I bought did not come with a mag plug and I would like to get one so I can dove hunt with it. Where could I find one at? I tried Browning's part list, but it's not listed. Or I did not see it.
Where can I buy a magazine plug?

You don't need to BUY one, it's simple enough to make one yourself with a saw and a 1/2" dowel from the hardware store; take the maximum number of shells your shotgun can hold now, then measure how long all of those rounds but 2 are when they're laid end to end, and that's how long your plug is going to be. HTH.

I will admit I am simple in some ways. The instances I use plugs fall between times when I don't want or need one. Its simple, quick, I don't worry about keeping track of the darn thing. I geuss it all depends of if you want something to look pretty or just get the job done. My thinking is that no body ever sees the thing so I will save my time and efforts (I enjoy woodworking myself) for something I want to show off. For me in this case simple, cheap and readily available win out every time.

Mag plugs are not high tech. Pencils will work, so do 1/4"-20 bolts with lots of washers and Remington's first model 870 solid steel mag plug.
Or if it's extra work and classy looks you're after, lathe a hardwood dowel of proper length down to slightly smaller than press fit in the magazine, then stain and finish to match your stock.

I'm sure more than a couple of us have forgotten to bring a plug when hunting and have whittled one out of a tree limb.
The factory plug for my Maverick/Mossy was a simple wooden dowel rod with a couple of o-rings so it wouldn't rattle around in the mag. Somehow, I managed to lose that plug, but a brand new never sharpened standrd wooden pencil with a full eraser worked just fine.

I was going to say whittle a stick, but somebody beat me to it. If a piece of oak tree limb was good enough for my dad's Model 12 it's good enough for anything.
OTOH, the gun shops here sell green plastic plugs made by, no surprise, Remington.

John, are you saying that it's fitting that the Remington plugs are green, or that Remington shouldn't make plugs?
Remington engages in plenty of questionable gun-making practices, including J-lock safeties and magazine dimples. But you can't blame them for plugs. Take up any complaints there with your wildlife agency.
Could be I'm misinterpreting here...

Well, green is fitting, but I don't know about Big Green's current quality since I haven't bought one of theirs since 1993.
Nevermind, that's not true, I bought one of the Wally World Special 1100s and it's been a good gun so far.
The last time I looked a couple of years ago, Virginia's regs said plugs had to be wood or metal. Maybe they've changed the regs now, but plastic wasn't included then.

Now that's interesting. I might take a gander at TN's regs and see if they mention materials. If VA regs say "wood or metal," I'll bet there's a bunch of folks that are in violation.

The brother of my duck hunting buddy got a ticket in 1993 in VA for no plug. And being on the wrong side of the game preserve line. And not having a license. Oops.
And back when I was a kid and my dad's first cousin was Sheriff of Augusta County, the Sheriff was bird hunting with his buddy the judge one day and they jumped the first covey of quail. The Sheriff got a few of them - bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. Oops.
I just looked at the 2002-2003 Hunting and Trapping regs.

I've shot a couple of TWRA (Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency) dove shoots where the game wardens came around and checked both licenses and magazine capacity. No plug got you a fine.

Yep, on private land, too.
Me...I have had the Game & Fish Folks ask; only 1 actually checked, but the particular Game & Fish guy involved was at least 90% jack%%% himself...
He got busted by the Federal Game & Fish guys a couple of years later...hunting dove over a baited field...with unplugged shotgun.
The 'baited field' was acutally a private airstrip, covered in about 1/2" of wheat, milo, and a couple of other grains.
