Anyone know where I can buy S&W wood checkered grips (for a 686)? In the 70's I had the large wood grips on a model 10. That's the type I'm interested in finding. Thanks
Haven't seen them on that site (not that they're not there). Besides, my service provider is not permitted to register on the S&W or Ruger Forum. I'll check the WTB. Thanks
The e-bay website, Harley Davidson posted shows the grips I'm interested in for my L frame, rd. butt, S&W model 686. How do yours compare? Got a picture?
I put a pair of square butt target grips, on a round butt 686. It will work, but there will be a little space on the backstrap, where the round butt falls short. I just carved a small wedge out of wood, that fit in the space.
Here is what Jason Demond is talking about ( I guess ) :
This was my first attempt of fitting an old N Frame square butt target grip onto a new round butt SW N Frame. It looks nicer in real life; the picture makes it look like brown paint, but it still has a lot of grain, just dark. Gun is a new SW 625 w. 4" barrel.
I also am interested in buying a set of the old larger grips for my K22 Masterpiece (Model 18)... ones without the speedloader cutout on the left side. I found a set on ebay here, but they look awfully dark - like the ones that Harley posted. Is that color normal?
i have a set of the gongola alves (sp, i know). i do not use them. i am a rubber grip fan, especiall hogue. they were on a 586. i will sell them to ya for $10.00 or so plus shipping. or i will trade you even for the hogue's if that's what you have. i also have a set of the little bitty stocks that were on a model 10. post back and we can get together somehow if you are interested.
bdhawk: If your grips look anything like this, I'll take them. I only have the 1 set of Hogue's & they do feel good, so I want to keep them for use with my model 10. If we deal, I'll send you the cheap fingered grips that were on my K22 for free - maybe you can use them. Email me at [email protected] .
