Had an idea pop into my head the other night.
"Commie ammo for commie guns" is what I tell myself when it comes to rifles and pistols, but I've never tried it with shotguns.
Folks that visit the forum often might have seen my previous threads on patterning a Saiga 20 gauge. In short, things aren't going well. I'm probably going to choke the thing to get the patterns tighter, but it's a really low priority thing.
Aside from patterning issues another problem with Saiga shotguns is that their design can deform plastic hulls if you leave 'em loaded up. I've seen it happen myself, but the deformation wasn't bad enough to cause any failures. Just enough to make my wary of keeping one for HD purposes if I ever did find a way to make it pattern how I want it to.
One way to fix that would be using steel hulled shells I suppose. I see that Barnaul makes them for .410 shotguns but I can't find anybody selling them in 20 gauge #3 Buck.
Basically what I'm looking for are non-plastic hulled 20 gauge #3 Buck shells. Something that'll hold up to sitting in in a Saiga for months at a time. If it patterns well, great, if not, well, I'm planning on choking the thing anyway.
